Now that Summer is nearly here and there is more daylight, it’s tempting to stay outside much longer. With more sunny days comes more sun exposure. That’s why I’m suggesting the following six fabulous multi-tasking products that offer a little to a lot of SPF protection, plus a little to a lot of tint, plus skin benefits all in one. Some are spa-style. some are luxurious and some are truly affordable.
Even beauty editors really don’t slather on the sunblock the way they should. Moreover, as it gets hot and sticky out there, the more products and makeup you apply, the more likely they are to slide off during the day, or worse, clog pores and make you break out. .
You might still want to add some of your favorite products and color cosmetics — but maybe not. In any case, they’re great for travel, good for your face, and there’s something for everyone.
Palladio Herbal Tinted Lip Balm ($4.00) is truly “cheap chic.” The swivel up stick is deceptively gorgeous. It looks just like an ordinary lip balm in a stick form, but this one has great for your lips natural UV filters such as Caprylic/Capric Trigyceride (a liquid derived from Coconut Oil) that guard against the sun’s damaging rays while really working hard to condition your lips.
Plus there’s moisturizing avocado oil, chamomile extract, and wheat germ glycerides to smooth wrinkles and reduce skin irritation. Vitamins A,C & E, plus Gingko Bilboa even provide some anti-aging benefits.
That’s a lot to pack into an unassuming little stick of balm, let alone one that costs less than a fancy latte.. And that’s not all these lovely lip balms do. They beautify!
They are available in a bunch of different colors from sheer to fairly intense, so you can leave our lipstick at home and just bring this one to the beach, pool, vacation…. I tried the deepest, the Palladio Herbal Tinted Lip Balm in “Sangria.”
This is a slightly shimmery, deep berry that adds enough tint so that you really don’t need any more lip color. It’s silky and luxurious, and wow, is it inexpensive. But no one will know you didn’t spend mucho bucks once sangria graces your lips.
The product wowed me, the price, floored me! For more information visit: www.palladiobeauty.com,
Looking for a luxurious and effective moisturizing product that lets you multi-task in the morning? I’ve got a great one to suggest! Just smooth on glō therapeutics Moisturizing Tint SPF 30+ ($38 1.7 fl. oz.). The first thing I really like about this product is the packaging — an air-free pump can that won’t spill in your travel bag, and also won’t get contaminated by your fingers or other saboteurs.
Inside, the product offers a sheer tint that is opaque enough to blur blotchiness and enhance radiance, but the main thing it does is help block the sun’s damaging rays with a nice SPF 30. The actives are 5% Octisalate, 3% Avobenzone, 7.5% Octinoxate, and 4% Oxybenzone.
Apply this at least 15 minutes before you plan to go outside, and you’ll have to re-apply it every 2-3 hours, but for daily use when you’re going to be inside most of the day at work, it’s fine. Although the tint is fairly sheer so you can “finesse” the tint, it comes in fair, light, medium and dark. While I normally wear a light to medium, the Light worked fine for me.
The formula is so lightweight(and not sticky) that you can wear this under your favorite foundation if you prefer. no scent and it’s good for all skin types. This could be your new “reach for it all the time” favorite skincare product for Summer. For more information visit: , www.gloprofessional.com
For those who just want a little bit of protection but a lot of skin loving benefits, the new, Satin Perfection BB cream Sunscreen ($38.00 1.7 fl. o0z.) by REN provides broad spectrum SPF 15 protection. If you’re wearing other products with SPF it’s fine.
One of the things that seems to be a trend, and that I really like, is the air-free pump packaging. This means it won’t become contaminated, and it also is good for travel. It won’t spill or leak into your handbag, tote or suitcase. It’s also silicone free and gives skin a silk, lightweight finish. But what it really does (besides blur imperfections and offer SPF 15 protection) is give skin anti-oxidant benefits plus toning, firming, anti-aging bonuses that you want from a multi-tasking BB cream.
This one has Flurophores from Noni extract boosts elastin (tones and firms skin); Antileukine from ochroleuca seaweed (protects against UV damage), Tocotrienols from arctic cranberry seed oil (anti-oxidant benefits), Magnesium from Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Glycogen from marine glucose and Vitamin C revitalize (these boost radiance). Sun protection actives are 5.7% Zinc Oxide and 2.85 Titanium Dioxide.
It is good for all skin types, and it’s very sheer (color adaptive with a satiny finish), so you can finesse the color –a good bit. But since the color is Light-Medium, anyone with a skin tone on extreme ends of the spectrum, with very fair or very deep skin, won’t be able to enjoy it “as-is,” unless they wear it under a foundation. On the other hand, it will work for many skin tones, and for those who covet products made with plant-based ingredients, free of petrochemicals, synthetic dyes, and parabens, Ren Satin Perfection BB Cream Sunscreen is an exciting and welcome new entry into the multi-tasking skincare BB/CC cream arena. Another interesting product for face (and body) is the Natural SPF 30 Herbal Choice Mari Tinted Face & Body Lotion ($23.69 3.4 fl. oz. ) which arrives in a deep violet glass pump bottle. Obviously, this makes the packaging fragile, but it is clear that the Herbal Choice Mari products are geared to those whose bodies truly are “temples of purity.” The deep violet glass is used apparently, to reduce the worry about the toxic residues plastic emits when exposed to heat (their explanation, not mine).
A tinted lotion is really quite nice with 21% zinx oxide as the SPF 30 active sun protection. For those who care, the company claims that it uses the largest particle size which they say is safer for your body. And they don’t use nanoparticles nor add any synthetic preservatives and absolutely no chemicals.
he products are made with organic ingredients —no petroleum based ingredients. They are also cruelty-free, vegan and vegetarian. They don’t have synthetic fragrances or dyes, no gluten, dairy, soy, corn, no GMO, no phthalate, parabens, preservatives, no beeswax, insects or animal ingredients.
So what does it have? For starters, It has hydrating organic oils. The high level of zinc oxide does still leave a bit of a film, but it’s much less than the traditional zinc oxide formulas, that really do leave a whitish hue on skin. This one is nearly invisible, although the tint comes in three ones: Light Ivory, Medium Beige and Dark Honey. The formula is very sheer so the Herbal Choice Mari Tinted SPF30 Face & Body Lotion Light Ivory will work for most light to light/medium skin tones. It leaves a bit of a sheen on your skin that I don’t really like, but it’s a personal preference. I like the sweet orange-scent that dissipates quickly (you can get an unscented version, too). I really like this for a face lotion, although I think calling it a face and body lotion is misleading. It really is just for your face, because it’s kind of pricey if you’re going to slather it every two hours over large areas of skin. Also, it doesn’t seem likely that you’d put this kind of tinted moisturizer on your body. At SPF 30 it’s good protection and an excellent products for those who crave all natural products, and we’re happy to suggest it! For more information visit: http://www.herbalchoicemari.com/
If more is better, it Cosmetics – Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ offers an amazing amount of UVA/UVB protection along with anti-aging properties and a hydrating serum ($38.00 1.08 fl. oz.) . It comes in a pump tube, which is kind of nice for travel. And there are five shades from very light to medium deep.
I love the creamy full coverage formula. Like other BB and CC creams, this one is not just a sun block or a beautifier, it also helps to hydrate skin (by over 79% according to IT Cosmetics).
Your Skin But Better has so much going for it, you might wonder if it’s too good to be true, with peptides, Niacin, Algae, Vitamins A,C,B,E, hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed collagen. And it also has a bunch of anti-oxidant and natural botanicals and extracts including Vitamin C, licorice root, avocado, grapefruit, and lime and lemon peel oils to brighten and color-correct skin. It also has aloe, jojoba, chamomile, colloidal oatmeal and flower waters to soothe and comfort even sensitive and stressed skin.
The product also will help reduce wrinkles, improve the texture of your skin, and perhaps, minimize your pores, too. The actives for sun protection are Titanium Dioxide 9.015% and . Zinc Oxide 6.305%. The non chemical sunscreen rated an impressive SPF 50+ is paraben, talc and cruelty free.
It’s a great product for daily use, but if you’re going to be outside for a length of time, or at the beach or pool, I’d suggest wearing a waterproof sun protection product, otherwise you’ll have to re-apply it every couple of hours if you’re perspiring, swimming or in the sun.
Of course you’ll need an SPF for your body as well (this tinted CC cream is just for the face). I tried both the Your Skin But Better Light and Medium CC Cream. The Light was OK on my light/medium skin. The medium was a bit darker, but not too bad either.

I have left my favorite new product for last. It’s the IT Cosmetics Hydrating, Color-Correcting Cushion Compact CC+™ Veil Beauty Fluid Foundation SPF 50+ ($38.00). Inside this chic, silver compact is a CC type foundation that is both foundation and serum.
You apply it with the included sponge applicator housed in the base of the compact by pressing it into the sponge-y net of the compact. There are five different tones from very light to fairly deep ( Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Rich).
This cc+ foundation features broad spectrum natural physical SPF 50+ UVA/UVB but it is also infused with Peptides, Niacin, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Algae, Vitamins A, B, C, E and something called “Drops of Light® infused with liquid crystals to brighten and color correct your skin while giving it a luminous finish while it also helps to hydrate, and reduce fine lines and pores with what IT Cosmetics calls ” Anti-Aging Armour™ Skin-Perfecting Technology®”
You can simply apply this over your moisturizer (no need for additional sun block unless you are going to really be outside in the sun for a prolonged period of time). For daily use, just dab it on and blend it well to develop a perfect color match. Adjust the formula to be either somewhat sheer, or medium-full coverage.
The best thing in my opinion is that it’s in a compact, so you can just carry this in your purse and touch it up or add more, or re-do it completely, any time, anywhere. I’ve been carrying mine around for several weeks. Looking good, staying protected, and doing great things for my skin, all from one chic compact, couldn’t be easier. And the price is reasonable.
You get instant beautifying benefits, and long term benefits, too. And it’s good for all skin types and paraben-free, talc-free, cruelty-free! It’s my personal new MUST-HAVE! For more information visit https://www.itcosmetics.com
