Bath By Bettijo is a fun line of fragranced skincare products that offer aromatherapy along with effective items to soothe, pamper, hydrate, and nourish skin. The line was launched in November 2003 with a mission to provide natural, healthy products to pamper overextended and overworked people. The Advice Sisters have reviewed their deliciously scented products during the ensuing years, and we’ve loved them.
One of the interesting things about Bath By Bettijo products, besides their spa-quality and aromatherapy benefits, is that they are sticklers for what they label as “natural.” Their “natural standard” proclaims that all products that are labeled “Natural” must: *be made with at least 95 percent ingredients that come from a renewable or plentiful source found in nature; *contain no ingredients with any suspected potential human health risks; and, *use no processes that significantly or adversely alter the purity or effect of the natural ingredients. However, Bath by Bettijo products do contain some non-natural ingredients when there is no viable natural alternative ingredient available and… only when there are no suspected potential human health risks. There is a very long list of what is NOT in these products as well, if you want to check them out.
I know that not everyone really cares about chemicals in their products. But great smelling products that deliver good results, are always wanted. For example, These nicely boxed roller ball aids are $18.50 each for .3 fl. oz. of therapeutic serums that include only Certified Organic Essential Oils, supposedly providing a drug-free way to deal with daily bothers. The choices are:
SLEEP – Organic Lavender and Cedarwood Essential Oils quiet your mind so you can get the rest you need. Roll on temples and wrists at bedtime for sweet dreams.
ENERGY – Give yourself a caffeine-free kick. This stick gives you a natural boost using Organic Citrus Essential Oils. Roll on wrists and breathe deeply for a refreshing wake-up call at any hour.
PEACE – In need of a tranquil escape? Inhale this calming blend with Organic Bergamot, Eucalyptus and Spearmint Essentials Oils. Reminiscent of a trip to the spa, breathe deeply and exhale away stress.
RELIEF – An all-natural remedy for everyday tension and dull headaches with the analgesic benefits of Organic Peppermint Essential Oil.
If you want to try these for their sensory benefits, they certainly can’t hurt. For example, I tried Sleep, a lovely mixture of strong lavender and cedarwood oil. It smells lovely. senusal, and while I don’t think I got more sleep or better dreams, I felt strangely empowered when I used it as if the actual activity of applying the oil, would make my mind more receptive to it’s supposed purpose. The box does caution that these are not medicine, just a way to help ease your way and your day. Even if Sleep didn’t buy me a bunch more “ZZZZs,” the scent is so nice if you’re in a strange bed (e.g. a hospital or hotel room) and you can’t sleep (partly because it doesn’t smell familiar), this rollerball might make all the difference.
Another luxe way to deal with personal issues, especially dry skin, is shea butter. It’s known for it’s super-emollient properties. Alas, shea butter can be heavy and hard to absorb into your skin. But nothing beats it for dry skin that really needs a lot of hydration. Bath by Bettijo has a very luxurious, Whipped Shea Butter $38.00 8 oz. jar with a lemon almond scent that smells like lemon drops. It provides a huge amount of hydration in a lightweight, frosting-like cream that is lovely to use and to smell. There is no greasy residue left on your skin, but amazingly, this organic shea butter is still nearly 50% straight organic shea butter, blended only with organic aloe leaf juice, jojoba, Vitamin E and essential oils. It’s a treat for the skin and for the senses. It might be pricey, but it’s mighty great. My only complaint? It’s in a screw top plastic jar, and there’s no spatula or implement provided to keep your fingers from contaminating the contents. Screw top jars look nice and stack well, but the minute you expose the product inside to air, it begins to degrade, and contaminants from your skin and the environment can ruin the product. If you don’t like Lemon Almond, there’s also Vanilla Mandarin and Lavender Cedarwood. The product is good for all skin types, even babies and men (who are sometimes in the babies group, too)! If lemon isn’t your thing, there’s also a vanilla mandarin, and a lavender cedarwood scent.
