I have dry eyes. It’s always been one of the reasons I couldn’t stand wearing contact lenses. I might just have to give them another try now that I have discovered Biotrue® Hydration Plus Multi-Purpose Solution by Bausch + Lomb. Advicesisters.com has reviewed Biotrue for dry eyes a couple of times on this website. But this new product is specially formulated to work for dry, uncomfortable contacts. The press literature tells me that when your eyes tend to be dry, this product actually maintains moisture on your lenses for the first 12 hours of wear.
The secret to the new Biotrue® Hydration Plus Multi-Purpose Solution is that it has ingredients inspired by the biology of the eye. To put it more simply, it has 25% more hyaluronan (a moisturizer found naturally in tears). It also has potassium, which is an essential electrolyte that also is part of the makeup of your tears. The product also matches the pH of tears to help make contacts comfortable when you put them in.
For those who wear contacts, this sounds like good news. However, there’s more: the new Biotrue solution still offers cleaning and disinfection benefits. You can find Biotrue products in the eye care aisle or online at most national retailers, including Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Target, Rite Aid, and (supposedly), Amazon. There are several different sizes and the prices vary depending on where you purchase Biotrue. If you want to try it, we found a 4 o. size for $5 at amazon.

The Biotrue Eye Care Recycling Program:
Did you know small plastic items may be too small to be recycled in standard curbside recycling programs? I worked in the Recycling Program for the NYC Department of Sanitation a long time ago, but I didn’t know that! The solution bottles are fine to put in with your recyclables. But not the caps.
So Bausch + Lomb is collaborating with TerraCycle on the Biotrue Eye Care Recycling program. All you have to do is pop off the caps of your solution bottles and place them in any shipping box, along with old lens cases, empty Biotrue eye drop bottles, and single-dose eye drop vials. When the box is full, print the prepaid label and mail it off to TerraCycle. The solution bottles and cartons are also recyclable in any standard recycling program. They will combine your cast-offs with other materials to be recycled into new products. You can also include small plastic pieces from other brands in your box too.
I think that’s a really good idea!
