The first official date of Fall varies from September 22 or 23 depending upon where you live. But by now you’re probably stowing the sundresses and starting to think about Fall Beauty including transitioning your skincare. Fragrances tend to be heavier in the Fall. Hair colors get deeper and tans, fade. Air conditiong/heat, sun, and light exposure mean that your skin needs products to help the transition from Summer to Fall. Here are some of my favorites from Borghese. These excellent face and body products have you covered! I have also added some skin-transitioning tips!
For Your Body:
Bodycare Tips:
Do gentle exfoliation for brighter skin, to help with a fading tan (real or faux), and to remove dry, dead skin cells.
Check your moles
Wear SPF 30 or higher
Moisturize!!
BorgheseBagno Di Vita Foaming Shower Gel ($36/15 oz.)
This pearly green bath and shower gel is a way to provide self-care every day. It deeply hydrates with Thyme, Comfrey, Chamomile, and Cornflower. Nourishing Hazel, Sweet Almond, and Olive Oil nourish skin and offer an uplifting and herbal scent that makes every day just a little bit better. Use just a little and breathe in the fragrance while the product foams nicely in your hands.
Borghese Rinfrescante Sugar Body Polish ($43 for 8oz).
Exfoliation is a must all year round, However, it is particularly important if you have been self-tanning or your skin is dry from sun, heat, wind, salt, chlorine or hormonal changes. This creamy sugar scrub is good for all skin types to help exfoliate the skin. It has a light scent that Borghese says is “energizing” but I couldn’t quite place it. However, the ingredients include Coconut and Borage Seed Oils that help to replenish, condition, and help protect skin from premature aging. Vitamin E Acetate helps fight free radicals. To use it, massage some in a gentle circular motion to buff away flakes and dryness. Rinse with warm water. Follow with
Borghese Tono Body Creme ($51/7.5 oz)
Borghese Tono Body Creme will soothe and soothe your skin after a bath or shower and especially after exfoliating with the Borghese Rinfrescante Sugar Body Polish (see above). I am not sure if it’s fennel extract that I smell, but it does help to even skin tone and soothe your skin. Of course, you need hydration as well, and that is provided by Chamomile, Horse Chestnut, and Ivy Extract. This feels so pampering, but the downside is that there is no applicator so you are sticking your hands into the jar, smoothing the product on your skin, and I worry a bit about contamination from skin cells and other things. This is true of all the Borghese products in jars. I love the packaging and the products, so I give Borghese a pass for the jars.
Spendide Mani Restorative Hand Creme ($26/3.4 oz.)
Like most hand creams, this one from Borghese comes in a flip-top tube. This very rich hand cream smells a bit like the Tono Body Creme, but I just can’t quite place the scent of this one either. The scent is called the “light Borghese signature Italian-spa-inspired scent). It smells a bit like fennel, but I don’t see that listed in the ingredients. Curious! But I love the luxurious cream that has Vitamin E to soften and help repair dry, chapped hands. Borghese says that this cream (or should I more properly say “creme”) helps to protect and restore the skin’s natural moisture barrier. I tried this while I was typing the review you see here, and it absorbed so quickly I didn’t even have to stop typing to let the hand cream do its magic.
Advanced Fango Active for Face and Body ($20/2.7 oz.)
This is a deep green clay mask good in Borghese’s elegant white jars. It’s good for normal, oily, and combo skin types. The mask helps to reduce enlarged pores, Blemishes, and combat fine lines & wrinkles. We have reviewed wonderful classic Fango masks previously, but this one is so popular it was sold out as I was writing this. You might not be able to go to an expensive spa but this product feels like you’re there!
The ingredients include a blend of Siberian Ginseng Root and Chaga Mushroom extracts to deal with environmental saboteurs. Bentonite Clay draws dirt, oil, and impurities from your pores while Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil, and Hyaluronic acid help enhance the suppleness and elasticity of the skin. It’s also allergy-tested and paraben free. Smooth the mask with an amazing uplifting herbal scent anywhere and everywhere you want (except the eye area). Leave it on 2-5 minutes and rinse it off (you might need a sponge or washcloth).
Specifically For Your Face:
FaceCare Tips:
Wear a minimum of SPF30 (or skincare products with SPF 30 or higher).
Use more Vitamin C and other antioxidant-rich ingredients to deter environmental saboteurs
Start advanced treatments (retinol, lasers, etc.) now that there’s less sun exposure
Increase the emollient ingredients in your moisturizers
Power-C Firming & Brightening Serum Capsules ($77 for 50 capsules):
I love portable products and the ability to keep them clear of pollutants. That’s only two reasons to like this serum in single-serve capsule form. There is something satisfying about breaking open this orange capsule and knowing that what you’re putting on your face is clean and effective.
You probably already know that Vitamin C serum(20%) can help to make skin look smoother and help to reduce fine lines & wrinkles. But along with Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) there is antioxidant Raspberry Leaf Extract and Vitamin E. Since these are single use you will be able to use all of the jar. Also, the capsules are free of Parabens, Phthalates, Nanotechnology, Formaldehyde, Mineral Oil, Petroleum, Polyethylene, Retinyl Palmitate, and Alcohol. The outer shell is 100% Vegetal and it is biodegradable.
According to Borghese if you use it once a day for 8 weeks you could see better, brighter, and more youthful-looking skin. However, one thing to remember is to consider if your skin is very sensitive and apply a sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater during the day while using this product.
Occhi Ristorativo Eye Creme: ($58/0.5 oz. )
This elegant eye cream is for day and night. therefore you can double down on the amount of use. I’m happy to tell you that it is a powerful petition. It hydrates and brightens with phytomolecules and antioxidants. More specifically, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 soothes fine lines by encouraging collagen and elastin production. Resveratrol is a natural antioxidant that protects and soothes. Globe Daisy Extract is an anti-aging defense against environmental damage and Hyaluronic Acid boosts hydration.
I wish there was an applicator (your eye area can be delicate) but, the product is clinically and allergy-tested and paraben free. The only downer for me personally was that I rubbed my eyes and the cream migrated into them, causing a lot of tearing. Therefore, please remember not to rub your eyes using an eye cream! This is true for any products, including SPF (been there, done that too).
Curaforte Moisture Intensifier ($72/1.7 oz.)
This de-lightful pre-moisturizer (I couldn’t help myself with the pun) is either a light veil of moisture for your skin or a pre-moisturizer treatment serum. Personally, this product is usually enough for my skin as-is. But when the weather changes, it can also be a boost to your moisturizer with a one-two punch. I can e this year-round! Hyaluronic Acid, Nourishing Olive Oil, and Hydrolyzed Collagen protect and hydrate skin so well. If you are someone who doesn’t like a lot of heavier creams, this one will be a new favorite. The glass pump bottle looks elegant but keep it away from little hands and pets who might knock it over.
