In 2010, I fell in love with a product so simple but so sensational, it’s been my constant travel companion ever since. It is a lightweight, 13 oz. clear plastic water bottle (srp. $8.99) with a choice of different colorful tops, called the bobble. What makes Bobble so nice is not just that is is lightweight, or re-useable, or travel-friendly, but the fact that within each colorful top is a portable filtration system that filters water as you drink. The bobble bottle will filter the equivalent of at least 300 water bottles, with a carbon filter that is a proven, powerful chemical absorbent. As water passes over the filter, the negative ions of contaminants are drawn to the carbon granules, where they remain. The filtered water has a cleaner, crisper taste and meets or exceeds NSF International Standard 42, the standard that governs public and private drinking water. Instead of paying for individual bottles of Spring water, you can use water from the tap to make water, anywhere (even the airport drinking fountain or sink) clean, budget minded, and tasty. bobble it is good for you, and the planet. And a bobble bottle costs just $9.95!
I thought there was just one bobble, the 13 oz. size, but now I am told that there is are others: 18.5 oz and 34 oz. ($9.99 & $12.99). These are great for “big drinkers” or for a family trip. With a large bobble you don’t have to hear “mom, I’m thirsty!” every five minutes. It’s also good for ensuring you get enough water during the day. Even if the water at work is yukkky, bobble will make it better. The filter top will work on all three bobbles.
And just because you might want to share your filtered water with a group at the table, you can also now get a bobble jug (srp. $29.99), with a bobble-style filter (although this one is larger, heavier, and round) that will last a couple of months or more (depending upon how much you refill it). The filters come in colors as do the other bobbles, and it’s really cool looking! And, unlike other filtering water pitchers, this one lets the water flow through immediately, so you can have your water and drink it too, in a flash!
According to the press literature I read, Americans spend over $15 billion every year to satisfy their thirst for bottled water. But most plastic bottles are discarded, ending up in landfills, in oceans and on sidewalks. Bobble is re-useable, so less plastic ends up in being trashed, and less plastic needs to be created. The Bobble bottles and jug are made from recycled plastic and are also free of BPA, Phthalates and PVC.
There is almost no downside to the bobble, other than when you’re sucking the water out of the top, it might take a bit more energy as the water flows through a little bit slower. Also, the filter does make the bottle a bit heavier, but no more so than if you were using a metal bottle. Fill it before you leave home, and re-fill it the next time you are near a sink, saving the need to buy bottled water when you’re thirsty. It’s also fabulous for airports. Just bring it empty through security, then fill it with drinking fountain water, and the impurities will be filtered out. The filter should be replaced every two months or after filtering approximately 40 gallons, or 150 liters, of water — nothing good lasts forever. Replacement Filters are just $6.99 for the bobble bottles, $9.99 for the water jug.
I know this sounds corny, but the bobbles are so magical, when I think of the Bobble family of products I think of the song from Cinderella called: “Bibbity Boobbidi Boo.” Remember the Fairy Godmother singing this as she transformed Cinderella? You can just substitute “Bobble-y” for “Bobbidi”):
Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put ’em together and what have you got
bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
It’ll do magic believe it or not
bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Salagadoola means mechicka booleroo
But the thingmabob that does the job is
bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Salagadoola menchicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put ’em together and what have you got
bibbidi-bobbidi bibbidi-bobbidi bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Corny, but I can’t help it! I love the bobble line! Get Bobble through retailers nationwide, and also in Wegmans, and Whole Foods. You can also get it online, on the Bobble Web Site
Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it was super
long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any suggestions for rookie blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.
