Clarin’s inspiration for their Summer 2012 makeup collection is sunny, vibrant, clearly colorful, India. The collection, called: “Enchanted,” is full of wear-able, but pretty colors that compliment the sun, and sunny complexions. The Advice Sisters didn’t see the entire collection up-close-and-personal, but I did get a chance to try the Enchanted Colour Quartet and Liner Palette $40.00.
It is a stand-out in the collection of limited edition, Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balm in four transparent colors that beauty and nurture lips: Crystal Coral: Sheer coral; Crystal Pink: Sheer pink; Crystal Red: Sheer red: and Crystal Violet: Sheer violet, ($24.50); Colour Quench Lip Balms in Jaipur: Pink; and Delhi: Nude ($18.00), Kohl Kajal liner pencils ($24.00) and a pretty Bronzing Duo with 100% mineral screen in three shades: Light, Medium, and Dark ($34.00).
That’s not to say that the other products aren’t pretty, but the Enchanted Colour Quartet and Liner Palette $40.00, exclusive to Nordstrom, is just a note-able, knockout!
The first thing you notice, after you’ve removed the palette from the shiny, red outer box, and slipped the shiny, golden compact from it’s soft, red, velveteen case, is that the compact is truly gorgeous, bedecked with the kind of henna design Indian women wear on their wedding day.
Inside, the limited edition, Clarins Enchanted Summer Palette are some semi-shimmery eye shadows (Clarins calls them ” luminous” but there is some sparkle that gets picked up in the light, especially in the gold shadow), plus one deep chocolate liner in a perle finish. All are semi-sheer and build-able to intense. The copper and gold shadows are traditional compliments to a Summertime complexion, but the royal purple and brown/bronze shades add depth.
The chocolate liner is lovely and softer than black, but if you feel you need more, you can opt to purchase the Kohl Kajal liner in black or violet. Both have highly concentrated pigment. The tiny, golden, sponge-tipped applicators are fine for travel, but I prefer to use full sized makeup brushes to get more intensity and control where the color goes. But no matter how you apply these, or in what order, they really make eyes smokin’ hot (just check out the eyes of the model in the photo at the top of the page, if you don’t quite believe me)!
While you’re at your favorite Clarins makeup counter or visiting www.clarinsusa.com take note that Clarins has a lot of really great sun protection products as well. For example, we reviewed the lovely UV Plus SPF 40 Day Screen Tint ($40.00 1.7 fl. oz.), on June 16th, and we’ll be reviewing the clever, travel-friendly, great-for-all-skin-types, new, Clarins SPF 30 Sun Control Stick for Sun Sensitive Areas, on June 27th . No matter what you need, Clarins has you covered!
