Chamomile is one of those lovely little herbs that everyone thinks they know about, because they associate it with tea, but the pretty, daisy like flowers are credited with being beneficial for everything from upset stomachs to anxiety. Drinking enough chamomile tea might even help to boost your immune system. But chamomile has beauty benefits, too. There are actives in chamomile that are calming, soothing, and healing for skin as well as for your internal health. It’s good for irritated skin and skin conditions like eczema and sensitive skin. It can help protect the skin from free radical damage and suppress the visible signs of aging. It is a natural antiseptic and can help deal with itching — and much more!
The Advice Sisters were excited to learn that The Body Shop now has a chamomile-centric, makeup removal collection. Like all The Body Shop collections, the ingredients are chosen with great care, with Community Fair Trade Chamomile oil is sourced from a family run co-op in Norfolk, England. The flowers are grown without pesticides and harvested at peak, and the products are gentle, but yet still effective. Every bottle includes DFT chamomile oil crafted from over 100 chamomile flowers. As someone who personally has sensitive skin and finds that most cleansers (especially eye makeup removers) leave my skin irritated and my eyes, red and stinging, I was eager to try these products.
The Chamomile Make-up Remover Collection includes:
Gentle Eye Makeup Remover – $15.50
Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover – $15.00
Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter – $18.00
Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil – $15.00
Muslin Cloth – $6.00 *use for a more thorough cleansing
Hands down, my absolute favorite new products that is my sink for easy access, is the Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Makeup-Up Remover. There is a milky, gentle makeup remover in this collection as well, and it does a got job, But this clear liquid in a plastic, flip-top bottle is truly exceptional. Saturate a cotton pad (or use The Body Shop Muslin Cloth or a Wash Cloth) and it will melt the toughest long wear mascara, liner and even lipstick. There was no need to scrub or rub, or re-do. Yet, my eyes weren’t cloudy or red or watery. This would be a special boon to contact lens wearers. Faboo!!!
I also like the tin of Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter. It might seem strange to slather a dry face with something that feels like coconut butter in a tin. However, once you massage it into even hard-to-remove makeup, it literally melts it away without a struggle. Since it is solid in a tin, it’s great for travel (the 2.7 oz. tin might not pass muster with those picky TSA agents at the airport, so pack it into your checked bag –the tin will protect it).
