Don’t love your skin? the Dimitri James NuSonic AM PM Face & Body Cleansing System can clean it up
One of the leading causes of dull skin, and even breakouts, is skin that really isn’t clean. It may look clean on the surface, but clogged pores and dead skin cells (not to mention other “gunk” that an sabotage your skin, are sometimes harder to detect. While facial brushes have been around for a long time, the early versions often provided poor results due to wimpy motors and wobbly brush heads that scratched skin more than cleansed it. Now that sonic brushes have been developed, those issues are a thing of the past. A sonic brush doesn’t just remove makeup, dirt, sweat and other impurities on your skin, it can really get into the clogged pores and blackheads, for skin that looks cleaner and brighter. When you gently remove impurities, you enhance the effectiveness of other skincare products. Better absorption can result in smoother skin with diminished lines and wrinkles, and an improved texture and tone.
I’ve been a fan of Dimitri James’ Skinn line of cosmetics for a long time now (type “Skinn” or “Dimitri James” into our search box in the upper right hand corner of the page and see all our previous reviews. Skinn is an anti-aging line which is kind of under the radar, now sold on QVC and some of the products are sold on the Skinn website. Now Dimitri is branching out into the skin appliances area with a sonic cleansing brush system: Skinn by Dimitri James’ ($149.00).
The unit comes with a charging stand and you can (choose pink, blue or green on the SKINN website ). If you want, you can buy additional brush heads separately when you’re ready to replace them (prices range from $8.50 for the body brush head, $9.50 for the facial brush heads, and $14.00 for the cleansing dispensing head).
Some facial brushes can be harsh, literally scratching your skin. If you overdo it with any brush, it might irritate your skin. But this one is gentle, and at an effective 400 movements per second you don’t have to rub and scrub for a clean face. The one power button and one speed control button also makes it extremely easy to operate. It is lightweight since it isn’t battery driven, but re-charged via a magnetic charger base – Input: 12V; 500mA that plugs into a wall socket. Charge it overnight and it will work for a long time. It’s also water resistant, although I didn’t drop it in water to test its limits).
Pros: It is an effective tool that comes with a variety of brush heads to suit various skin types and tasks. It’s lightweight, with an ergonomic design, and it is re-chargeable. The universal charging cradle doesn’t take up a lot of space.
Cons: There are some brush heads you might not use and there’s no place to store them on the unit (my cat found two on my desk, thought they were playtoys and I have yet to find them). The noise level is medium to high.
You can find this on several online web sites, but we suggest the SKINN website
