Summer brings out all sorts of limited edition and “summer-centric-scented” products. From high end to budget-minded, these products are tailor-made for Summertime skin issues, with ingredients and scents that work well for the season. The Advice Sisters know that not everyone can splurge on expensive products, but we’re not beauty snobs, and we like some of the drugstore brands as much (and sometimes, better) than those that put a big dent in our beauty budgets.
The two most essential summer skincare products (after sun protection with SPF) are cleansers, and moisturizers. So we’re suggesting a budget-minded cleanser from SoftSoap that just screams: “I love Summer!” Coconut Island Quench. And from Vaseline Intensive Care there are a bunch of new Essential Healing Moisturizers, each of which have formulas that are designed to deal with specific dry skin issues. I personally love the new Aloe Soothe, which contains aloe — an ingredient that also helps deal with any irritation you might have from sun or wind-burn .
Enjoy these new products and you won’t go broke trying them! There are at least a few you’ll want to add to your collection.
Cleanse:
When the urge to try something new hits, you can’t go wrong with a large, 18oz. bottle of a nicely scented body wash that costs under $4.50. The point is, that’s what you’ll get from SoftSoap’s body washes. The smell of the Coconut Island Quench is, as you’d expect tropical, with a significant coconut vibe, but it also has floral and fruity notes to soften that. It’s light and fun to use. The dermatologist- tested, peachy and pearly soap-free formula feels great on your skin. There isn’t a lot of of foaming action but it feels luxurious. Taken out of the Soft Soap bottle., you’d swear this was higher end, but the suggested retail price is a mere $3.50-$4.50 for a nicely sized 18 oz in a plastic, flip top bottle. It is available at mass retail, drug and grocery stores nationwide. For more information on SoftSoap Body Washes, click here
MOISTURIZE:
Smooth, soft skin not only looks good, it feels good. For most people, that means minimal maintenance, simply using a good body moisturizer on a daily basis. If you just want to get down to basics, consider the affordable line of Vaseline Intensive Care moisturizing lotions in new formulas (and of course, old favorites) that may not come in pricey packaging, but they do plenty to deeply moisturize and help heal dry skin. Each of the new Vaseline Intensive Carel formulas have been designed to combat dry skin with a special blend of humectants (to draw water into the skin), and healing micro-droplets of Vaseline jelly, (to lock moisture in).According to the press literature, these micro-droplets are highly refined and 100% pure. Together, the humectants and Vaseline Jelly micro-droplets in the lotions work to deliver on a range of moisturization needs. I didn’t try them all, but I did try the Intensive Care Aloe Soothe which has soothing aloe (aloe is already really fabulous when you might have a bit of sunburn or irritation this Summer) and the Essential Healing which is ideal for really dry skin and keeps working for three weeks (but you should keep applying it daily to see great results).
