CoverGirl Fans are loyal! They love this beauty brand for its affordable, trendy cosmetics. In fact, according to a survey I just read recently of over 1,000 women over the age of 18, CoverGirl was ranked in their top three favorites because of high quality and low cost. Covergirl is one of those brands you just have to love. I like CoverGirl because you don’t feel guilty buying their cosmetics to experiment with new products and new looks. But you won’t blast your budget to smithereens.
One of My All-Time Favorite CoverGirl Products:
Covergirl makes one of my all-time personal favorite products: Outlast All Day Liquid Lipstick. I and many beauty editors wear it and swear by it. This two-step liquid lipstick with a clear, moisturizing balm, truly lasts and won’t’ smudge when you aren’t going to have time to touch it up. I wore it every day for decades, during Fashion Week and to events.
But although I have been a fan of Outlast All Day Liquid Lipstick for years, I was especially grateful for this product during the pandemic. Few lipsticks stay put without fading, clumping or smearing. But this one does. I like bold lip colors, so Outlast is really great and definitely will outlast anything else I might choose to apply.
However, for Summer, I’m suggesting four neutral shades of CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Liquid Lipstick. In my photo above: Left top clockwise around the perimeter: Good Mauve (the boldest of the new neutral colors); Dusty Blush (a warm light/medium pink), Ripe Peach, an earthy peach, and Porcelain, the lightest in this group but it still delivers a flattering medium/warm nude that provides a lot of color. Apply the liquid lipstick, first. Wait 60 seconds, then apply the clear, moisturizing lip balm for shine.
Clean Fresh Lip Tints:
In the middle of the above photo, there are four Lip Tints from Covergirl’s Clean Fresh collection. The cosmetics offer healthy-looking, fresh skin without sulfates, formaldehyde, phthalates, parabens, or talc. They’re made with 100% vegan ingredients like coconut milk and aloe vera to hydrate for hours. The colors are sheer, dispensed from a slant-tip tube so great for the pool or beach or travel.
I like these because they’re clean beauty and also vegan. You’ll get a sheer tint with the moisturizing benefits of an oil. oil. I tried “Sun Never Sets,” a bright orange; “Night Dreams,” a bold purple; “Uptown Twirl,” a bright Fuschia, and “Pink-ture Perfect,” a pretty light pink. Keep in mind that none of these are supersaturated so pick anything and you’ll find it works with your skin tone. You can also layer them over another lip color.
CoverGirl says these are inspired by 90’s nostalgia, but they appear very trendy and new. You’ll want a few.
Let’s talk about powder makeup! I love it because it lasts and is easy to blend. But not everyone agrees with me, so Covergirl offers different formulas to make everyone happy. CoverGirl Simply Ageless Instant Wrinkle Blurring Pressed powder is available in tones from very light to quite deep (ours in “Fair Light”). It has a hydrating formula featuring hyaluronic acid and a Vitamin C complex. It is a powder foundation with a sponge puff underneath in the bottom of the compact. But it’s so creamy that it doesn’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles.
In fact, it’s a mattifying powder that reduces the look of pores. Because the powder is creamy, it’s delicate. But it’s a great product for your tote and for touch-ups.
Three more CoverGirl products to love are three blush/bronzer/contour powders that look bright in the compacts and for sure they’re high pigment products. However, if you’re not into bold colors for your face, you can tame the time with a large, soft brush. “Swell Seduction” is a warm rose blush that would love nice on light to medium skin tones but “Hot Frenzy” is a bold warm red, and really would flatter deeper tones. “Sunset Glitz” is a great way to contour or just add a golden glow wherever you want it. (a great buy at under $11).
Lovely Liquid Foundation:
If I’m going to wear liquid foundation it has to be a good color match and it has to last. That’s why I really like Covergirl’s Outlast Extreme Wear Foundation 3-in-1 with SPF 18/ foundation in a pump bottle has a little bit of everything I want. First off there are 14 shades including a couple in every skin tone for each color. For people with deeper complexions, there are only really three but they all address a different tone.
I tried “Classic Ivory” and “Golden Natural.” Classic Ivory was just a bit too light and Golden Natural looked dark was a slightly better fit. Sometimes despite many different colors, you can’t get the perfect one. But I mixed them together and got even better color@
What’s great about this is that it is a long-lasting foundation is that it’s a foundation, primer, and concealer all-in-one! It is also build-able but full coverage. And it has SPF. I also like that it’s dispensed from a pump-top tube, so you don’t have to put your finger in or on the bottle.
This foundation is easy enough to apply with a brush or sponge, but with fingertips, it didn’t smooth over dry skin with totally smooth results. However, for a multi-tasking foundation that can last up to 24 hours, it’s a bargain. SPF 18 (thanks to Octinoxate) is a minimal amount of sunscreen. But if you’re not baking in the sun, it’s a nice way to get some SPF protection and wear a sweat and humidity-proof product.
EYE Love This!
For your eyes, Covergirl sent their iconic Lash Blast mascaras in a vegan formula. I love this (ok EYE love it). This mint-green tube features Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara in Rich Black has a smudge-proof formula Covergirl at last count had more than 30 different mascaras to choose from. This one is for the Vegan clean beauty fan, for sure. It has a formula with argan & marula oils tao condition, and the brush is a generously sized one with tiny bristles to catch every hair. Although it’s clean beauty, it really does a great job. And it’s cruelty-free. as well.
I am showing you a closeup of the brush and the fact that the Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara comes with a cap instead of being directly housed in the tube. I really like this as it does keep the mascara fresher until you are ready to buy it and use it. You can also see what the bristles are like before they are caked with mascara.
The Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Liquid Liner in “Black Onyx” looks like a great bet with not just in black, but also charcoal and brown. If you have sensitive eyes, you’ll be happy to know that this liner is fine for you, as well as those with contact lenses. When you are putting a product right up against your eyes and eyelids it’s good to know it is Ophthalmologist-tested. The tip is designed to make a fine line easy.
Oh and once you’ve aced that perfect line, it dries fast! Although I’m myopic and terrible with liquid liner, I managed to do a decent job with this one. To take it off, use a makeup remover or my favorite micellar water.
