DERMAFLASH is the hottest at-home exfoliator, Here’s Why
In 2016 The Advice Sisters reviewed a fabulous new device called DERMAFLASH and we were so impressed we proclaimed it as” “the hottest at-home exfoliator.” This device, good for all skin types, gently “derma-planes: your skin. The edge/blade (they’re not sharp) removes dead skin cells, peach fuzz, and makes your skin more radiant. Dermaflash uses a subtle sonic vibration to do the work of what in the past, only spas and doctors offices could do.
Now, DERMAFLASH has been completely re-designed into a sleeker, easier to charge and store model. So I decided I needed to check it out.

new modern design for Dermaflash!

What’s in the Box:
Inside the box, you get everything you see in the photos. The basic exfoliating unit is $99. It includes the DERMAFLASH device; charging base and cord, 4 DERMAFLASH edges, 10 ml PREFLASH Cleanser, and 10 ml POSTFLASH Moisturizer.
The Dermaflash Plus package ($129) includes a dozen of the must-have dermaplaning blades.
The revised DERMAFLASH works essentially the same as the older model, but I love the sleek look and the charger stand which is much smaller than the original.
The edges or blades are essentially the same and the additional skincare products are good, although recommended, you can use your own cleanser and moisturizer.
The power on/off button and the lighted intensity battery display makes it easy to know when you have to recharge. Two speeds help you get up to speed, start on the less intense one if your skin is sensitive or you’ve never used DERMAFLASH before.
If there’s a downside, it’s that you can’t charge the unit with the blade in it. tHE blades cannot be re-used. On the other hand, this makes it safer and hygienic.
How To Use DERMAFlash:
Step 1: Start with a clean face, Place a small amount of PREFLASH™ onto wet hands and create lather. Massage and rinse well. Pat dry.
Step 2: Press the power button once to activate. A second press offers more intensity. It’s not obnoxiously high but start with the lower intensity first. A third press turns the device off.
Beginning in front of your ear at cheekbone, hold skin taut with a finger from the opposite hand. Using short feathery strokes glide DERMAFLASH LUXE across the entire face, avoiding your lips, nose, eyebrows, and eyelids.
Step 3: Massage a small amount of POSTFLASH™ into skin to hydrate and balance after treatment. You can also use your favorite moisturizer, but DERMAFlash products work well with the device.
To dispose of single-use Edge, point the top of the device towards wastebasket and press the eject button
Is It Worth It?
If you’re like me and have sensitive skin that can’t handle powerful exfoliating masks and scrubs, the gentle sonic vibration is a good way to easily exfoliate. And, in fact, I did see an immediate, visible difference. Another bonus is that your makeup will be smoother look better as well.
You only need one pass on every bit of skin, which means less irritation. I had a moment’s redness and then smoother, more radiant skin was my view in the mirror. While everyone is different, Dermaflash did exactly what it was supposed to do, easily and quickly.
As to the pre and post prep products, I liked them, However, our testers agree that a clean dry face and a great moisturizer will work as well.
Any Caveats?
DERMAFLASH suggests waiting 24-48 hours before applying any products containing acids (retinoic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, etc) to avoid any potential irritation. Other skin care products are ok.
Also: be aware that you can get free gifts when you order at dermaflash.com but by doing so, you are also agreeing to a subscription service that for $63 (includes shipping and handling).
DermaFlash will send you DERMAFLASH® Essentials every 3 months ( – 0.33 oz/ 10 mL PREFLASH Cleanser’ – 0.33 oz/ 10 mL POSTFLASH Moisturizer; and – 4 x DERMAFLASH Exfoliating Edges).
One way to get around this is to simply purchase additional ‘Essentials” through Sephora ($29) You can also purchase the unit for $199
The Bottom Line:
I’ll admit it, I really like this device. DERMAFLASH really wowed me last time and this time as well. In fact, the experience was even easier and better with the revised version.
As I always advise, no one’s skin is exactly the same so results will vary. The treatment and tool are non-invasive and if you haves the budget, spending just a few minutes each week for letter looking skin in a no-brainer. For some DERMAFLASH will be a splurge, but for others, it’s going to be a must-have this year.
DERMAFLASH is available now on www.dermaflash.com and on Sephora.com
