“Innovation” is the one word that was used over and over again at a recent even for Philips Sonicare to introduce two new products: the Philips Sonicare AirFloss and the Diamond Clean. The first of these products to be launched is truly exciting–and it’s on the market, right now! It is the Philips Sonicare Airfloss 100 series, a cordless, rechargeable flossing tool that uses just a small amount of water, and is actually a pleasure to use!
Everyone knows that healthy, clean, white teeth are a beauty must have. And flossing is important for healthy teeth. While I don’t often quote surveys, the Opinion Research Corporation conducted a survey via phone in October 2010 among a nationally representative sample of 1,021 Americans 18+ years old on behalf of Philips Sonicare. They found that 50% of Americans admit they don’t floss as much as they should. Two-in-five (37%) floss less than every day, and a whopping, 16% don’t floss at all.
Which brings me back to the Airfloss. This new product will especially entice you if you are one of those people who forgets to floss, or remembers that you should, but then gets frustrated trying to angle the string gloss to the back of your mouth, or you, can’t maneuver the string, or you don’t have enough time to do the entire mouth properly, or one of a gazillion other excuses. The Airfloss has air and “Microburst technology” that is specifically designed to make cleaning in between teeth as easy as possible while maximizing plaque removal and improving gum health. The design is sleek and easy to hold, and really quite beautiful. Simply charge the unit on it’s small base (one charge can last up to two weeks, so you can take this when you travel, too). Attach the nozzle with specially designed tip (to help you get maximum benefit between the teeth, even in hard-to reach places), fill the small reservoir on the unit place the tip in the space between your teeth, turn the unit on with it’s power button (it shuts off automatically after 4 minutes if you forget), press the button to get a burst of air and water, then move on to the next set of teeth, and repeat. Be sure you get to those hard-to-reach back teeth as well. Airfloss makes it much easier than with a string floss. The unit will removes plaque between your teeth with a gentle but effective cleansing action –in about 60 seconds! TIP: try the unit with mouthwash instead of water, for a true clean mouth feeling (the unit needs less than a teaspoon of water or mouthwash to do the job).
The unit is very intuitive to use. The uniquely-designed tip on the flossing nozzle nestles nicely in the spaces between teeth, so there’s no tugging, pulling or fighting as you would with a traditional string floss. It took me a while to get used to the “puff!” of air and a tiny bit of water, that you get when you press the large, green button to create the flossing action between teeth. But it’s gentle, and even better, the AirFloss is gentle to teeth and gums. It will make your mouth cleaner, fresher, and healthier, without ripping your gums to shreds. In fact, it makes flossing, sort of fun! When you like something, you’re more likely to use it. And, now you know that you really should, and must, floss for great teeth!
Ideally, one should visit the dentist every six months and have your teeth checked, and cleaned. Dentists visits are pricey, to be sure, but healthy teeth are priceless. One way you can help to keep your teeth healthier every single day, is to make a small investment in good oral health tools, such as the AirFloss. It’s available now at Bed Bath & Beyond, Drugstore.com and Amazon.com for a Suggested Retail Price of $89.99
..and if you love the product as I think you will, you can “Like” Philips Sonicare AirFloss and possibly win one, by visiting www.Facebook.com/Sonicare and taking the quiz on the “Love Sonicare” tab.
