Drinkmate: No Electricity Needed! 
We have reviewed machines that will carbonate water in the past on advicesisters.com, but Drinkmate is different. The slim design of Drinkmate makes it counter-top friendly, but that’s not the main feature. While many sparkling water makers require electricity, this one works with a CO2 cartridge, no electricity required. You can take it virtually anywhere from a party to a picnic or even on vacation.
Drinkmate Details:
Drinkmate is available in three colors to coordinate with your kitchen or bar. It uses a CO2 cartridge, but the carbonation process works a bit differently than some of the other sparkling water makers do.
You’ll get a bottle and a cap to store the carbonated beverage in, an instruction booklet, and of course, the base Drinkmate, plus a co2 cartridge.
Drinkmate is lightweight and completely portable!
How To:
It’s easy to use the Drinkmate as long as you follow the instructions.
The steps to sparkling water, juice or wine heaven are fairly basic. First, fill the bottle with water (or whatever liquid you want to carbonate). Attach is to the machine. Then, press down on the fizz infuser to carbonate in short blasts.
When you’re satisfied you’ve got enough fizzy going on, remove the BPA-free bottle and release pressure using the fizz infuser to begin enjoying your sparkling beverage.
The fizz diffuser works differently on the DrinkMate than some other products, so at first, I was confused about it. Also, you really have to make sure that the bottle is affixed properly.
Once you know how (the beverage bottle detaches from the machine with the fizz infuser attached to it), it’s easy.
You can use the DrinkMate anywhere, and it works with the most common brands of 14.5 oz (or 60L) CO2 carbonators
TIP: To find a replacement 60L CO2 source near you, google “carbonator exchange” and choose a site that shows a location most convenient for you.
Wine Sparkler Recipe!
If you’re wondering what you can do with the DrinkMate besides make sparkling water, here are some ideas to get you started:
Wine Sparkler:
2 cups watermelon stars
1 cup fresh blueberries
One bottle chilled dry white wine such as Fumé Blanc, Chenin Blanc, or Vinho Verde
1 liter chilled lemon-lime soda (e.g. Sprite or 7UP).
Directions:
Place the watermelon stars and blueberries in the bottom of a 1-gallon pitcher. Pour in the white wine and soda, and gently mix to combine.
Fill with ice and transfer to Drinkmate™. Depress button until gas vents. Shake for 10 seconds. Let stand for 5 seconds then release pressure using the quick-release valve, adjusting speed as needed to avoid foam reaching the wand. Serve with a few fruit pieces in each cup.
