Duri Queen — A Cool Spring and Summer Treat

The Duri Spring/Summer 2010 “Paparazzi” collection may not get you a modeling contract, or even a front row seat at Fashion Week, but it WILL get your nails, noticed. And, that’s s sure ticket to fame! All of the Spring and Summer colors have celebrity-relevant names, but what makes the collection particularly note-able is that it veers away from the traditional pastels, pinks and corals of summer, and focuses on bold, nontraditional colors with different formulas including sparkly blues and teals, opalescent purples, metallic orange, yellow, green and magenta, and a shiny, steel grey. This Brooklyn-based company also make their nail polishes, DBP-free. I didn’t try all dozen colors in the Spring and the Summer collections, but I tried a few:

From the Spring 2010 collection I tried Duri “Drama Queen,” one of the most fun colors I’ve seen this season. It’s a sheer wash of shimmery, acid green, with enough gold shimmer to make warm toned skin Pop! “Addicted to Fame” is an intense, neon orange sporting a pearly gold, opaque finish. While the color isn’t for the shy, it will look amazing with a tan, and terrific on toes. Other colors include: “Oscar Party,” (opalescent leaf green shimmer) “fashion Police,” (medium blue with small glitter) “Limo Ride,” (copper shimmer) and Divas Only” (opalescent purple shimmer).

From the Summer collection I tried “Tabloid Rumors.” I always think of grey as being a cool weather color, but grey is still hot for the hotter months as well. This one is deep, steel grey with a silver shimmer and an opaque finish. The rest of the collection includes “Gossip Exclusive; (brown shimmer)” “Paparazzi,” (forest green shimmer), Bombshell;” (creamy, bold rose), I Don’t’ Kiss & Tell,” (hot orange with shimmer), and “Celebrity Scandal.” (silver glitter)
