Skin by Brownlee & Co
Advicesisters.com was recently introduced to Skin by Brownlee & Co. Skin by Brownlee & Co. is a Cincinnati Black-owned niche skin expertise clinic specializing in the treatment of acne and hyperpigmentation in the skin. They also have a nice line of products that you can purchase online. We reviewed their unique sunscreen in a luxury sunscreen article already. However, in our package, we received three other really nice products also from the anti-aging collection. The photo above shows all four (read sunscreen review).
What grabbed my attention right away is that these products are housed in glass. I love that because it is more upscale and elegant. But glass can shatter. If you live with a bunch of active kids and pets, be sure you don’t leave these where little hands or big paws can knock them over and break them. I noticed that a few of these products were also being sold at Target including the Balancing Face Cleanser with aloe vera, panthenol, and glycerin.
Balancing Face Cleanser:
So I’ll start with a review of the Balancing Face Cleanser. As I already mentioned the products are in glass containers. A nice touch is a reminder on the clear glass with gender-neutral beige and copper labels is a reminder to use SPF for sun protection. This one has a spray pump top. You apply some to damp skin, work it into a lather, and rinse. Repeat if you wish. The unscented gel is good for most skin types and helps to balance the skin’s natural pH level without drying your skin.
Cucumber Refreshing Mist:
Another product I really liked was the Cucumber Refreshing Mist. You may have used cucumber slices on your eyes in the past, to de-puff them. This refreshing liquid toner is also in a glass bottle with a spray diffuser top. Use before your serums or to set your makeup. I love the scent of fresh cucumber, and this one with Cucumber water, hydrating aloe leaf juice, exfoliating white willow bark extract, and tea tree leaf oil makes me feel pampered every time I use it. It just makes me feel good. Recommended for all skin types. It’s also acne and eczema friendly.
Tip: put it in the fridge to make a cooling and refreshing spray that revives you. It’s especially good after you’re been in the heat
Aloe Protect Soothing Cream:
The last product I tested out was the Aloe Protect Soothing Cream for Mildly Stressed or Dehydrated Skin, this one is in a glass jar with a screw top and no applicator. If there is anything I dislike, it is sticking my fingers into a jar of cream. For starters, it’s messy. And also, it contaminates the product more quickly. But that said, if your skin feels dry, irritated, or tight, this luxurious gel/cream with calming Aloe and Hydrocortisone makes the dry tight feeling go away almost instantly. You don’t need more than a small amount, maybe the size of a dime. It’s gentle and soothing and my new go-to when I need non-greasy but seriously hydrating TLC for my face.
