Did you know that Essie has been in business for 35 years? The Advice Sisters have been a fan of Essie’s fashion-forward and numerous collections for decades. We remember when Essie carried her own samples, and we attended one particularly memorable launch she had on the Carnival Legend, docked at the New York City Passenger Ship Terminal for her “Cruise Collection” in 20o5, . The brand has come a long way since then and we’re delighted to suggest three current Essie collections. You’ll want to get these quickly, before Essie arrives with Spring 2016!
Let’s start with some holiday dazzle. Glam up your nails even if you are going directly from work to that last minute holiday party. Dazzle fingers and toes for New Years Eve. Add sparkle to your life during the darker, colder Winter days and nights. You know Essie from your favorite nail salon. These glitter polishes from Essie will add that “certain something” to your outfit, regardless of your age. For those of you who love glitter, there can never be enough (we know our readers adore the glitter on fingers, toes, eyes and nose-! Glam yourself right now with Essie’s Fringe Luxeffects 2015 collection. You may want to combine one of the glitters with the Winter Collection. Add the “Fringe Factor,” a mischievous mix of gunmetal and pink that can be combined with the “Apres Chic” platinum in the Virgin Snow Winter Collection for that extra “wow!” factor. “Frilling Me Softly” is a charming blend of platinum & cobalt into a gorgeous , shiny platinum, (it’s sheer, so use at least 2 or 3 coats to get the bling you want). Try combining “Tassel Shaker,” a precious copper and bronze, with Frilling Me Softly to create a bold glitter look. “Fashion Flares” is sultry maroon glitter that looks like dark maroon in the bottle, but in reality, it is the perfect glitter over a pink or red nail polish if you want a more bold statement (you can wear it solo as well). Since these are glittery in a sheer base, wear them over another Essie polish, or apply several coats. At just $8.50 per bottle you’ll find it a bargain each time you check out those be-dazzled fingers and toes. Feeling romantic? You might want to snuggle by the fire, but you’ll be gazing at your nails as the Luxeffects nail polish glitters in the light! Collectors note: the names of the polish are right on the pristine, white caps!
To Celebrate 35 years of Essie’s fabulous colors in her iconic bottle embossed with “Essie” on the side, Essie’s new years’ gift to us is the limited edition “Retro Revival 2016.” Six shades (for most you’ll need more than one coat) run the gamut from nearly-there light (one of Essie’s original shades from 1981 called “Birthday Suit” — a sheer, light nude), to the deep navy blue and (subtle) silver glittered”Starry Starry Night” from 1985 . There is also a deep shimmery cranberry Life of the Party circa. 2002. From 1985 we have two color: a pearly white with a silver/grey tone from the 1985 Spring Collection called “Cabana Boy” and the other is an elegant, sheer, glittery bronze called “Sequin Stash.” To round out the collection there’s Bikini With a Martini,” a frosty iridescent pink that is very sheer, but looks nice even with one coat. All of the colors feature a gold, retro design on the cap — a nod to the iconic sign in Las Vegas of the Stardust Casino. These are sure to become collector’s items, so get yours while they are available ($8.50 per bottle) in January 2016 only, at salons and beauty destinations nationwide.
Essie’s Winter Virgin Snow Collection features yet even more fabulous colors, six of then in fact, ranging from seductive ruby to jet black with amethyst fire. The nicely curated collection has colors for every taste, from the black nail polish lover to ladylike pink and traditional bright red. If you love light colors, the “Scenic” powder pink may even replace the all time favorite “Ballet Slippers” for Essie nail polish lovers. The clever name of “haute Tub” goes to the deep black with amethyst fire nail polish . Wear this one relaxing after a day of skiing or just being outside in the wintery weather. “Apres Chic” is a serious platinum that is just elegant but not too dark. Crisp periwinkle blue gets the monker ” Virgin Snow,” perfect for pastel lovers. No Winter collection is complete with a red or scarlet. Virgin Snow features a bold scarlet called “Shall We Chalet?” plus a bright ruby with the intriguing name of “Altitude Attitude.” Red makes nails sexy, let’s face it. So show off with a gorgeous statement ring or bracelet and your red, Essie-clad nails for an evening of fun (add the polish to your toes and brave the cold in sexy stiletto peep toes or sandals). Beauty Tip: no matter what color you choose, it will last longer with a base coat and top coat (Essie has those, too).
Did our trio of Essie collections put you in an “Essie” mood? Essie has over 900 shades of nail polish color and they are “3-Free” (No Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, or Formaldehyde). Get Essie at salons and beauty destinations nationwide, or buy online at www.essie.com.
