Summer is a time to bring out the bright colors, but the trend this season is for pastels and ice-cream colors that speak softly but make a big impact. Two collections from Essie Polish and SPARitual polish prove that neutral shades can really make a statement, without resorting to bold brights, glitters or gimmicks.
Inhale Collection by SPARitual
SPARitual’s Nourishing Vegan Color Nail Inhale Collection is not just serene and pretty and vegan. It’s impressively 10-free with no: DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Camphor, Formaldehyde Resin, TPP, Parabens, MEHQ, gluten, and any animal-derived ingredients
The Inhale Collection is the first of two 2017 lacquer collections to feature a one-step formula, that doesn’t require a base or topcoat, with a range of creamy neutral and pink shades.
The multi-tasking nail lacquer is kind to nails, long-lasting, but what makes it really special is the new Nourishing Vegan Color formula that allows oxygen and hydration to penetrate the polish through an “Advanced Oxygen Technology” (it mimics that of a contact lens).
The formula also has a blend of seaweed extract and red tea to revitalize the nail surface and condition nails so they can heal.
The Polish Shades
(clockwise from the bottom in my photo):
Inner Peace: (not in my photo) but it’s a classic, soft taupe crème
Renewal: a natural flesh with a whisper of rose gold shimmer
Tranquility: a semi-sheer dove gray with hint of blue crème
Slow Beauty: a dreamy, creamy peach that’s quite sheer but very delicious as a natural nail color
Harmony – a soft, cool pink crème almost the color of the classic ballet slipper.
Gloss: a clear, shiny gloss
You obviously don’t need to be vegan to love SpaRitual!

Essie Polish Have Your Cake And Eat It Too
Essie surprises us always, with collections that look trendy but wearable. The names make us believe they create them after staying up with late at night drinking a lot of wine! So amusing!
the Have Your Cake and Eat it Too Collection does look good enough to eat on your fingers and toes, with formulas of creme, shimmer, foil, and iridescent that cover well in two coats. We added a top coat of Essie’s new Speed Setter and got our newly-colored nails out the door in less than five minutes flat!

Clockwise from the top right in my photo: Eclair My Love, a soft red with a lot of pink.
Eclair My Love: a soft red with a lot of pink in it. It’s the deepest color in this collection.
S’il Vous Play: a lavender pink foil that’s just a teeny bit short of “glittery” but gorgeous sun or cloudy day.
Fondant of You: Essie describes it as a sparkling apricot marmalade but the shimmer is fairly minimal unless you apply several coats
Sweet Souffle: Although we’re not always fond of “white,” this not a creamy white, it’s such an iridescent it’s almost an opal!
Blue-La-La: a classic, creamy, baby blue, but two coats cover beautifully and we love this with deeper skin tones.
Baguette Me Not: a creamy lilac that Essie describes as “unforgettable lilac macaron,” Yes, we do agree!
Essie Speed Setter:
We received another big bonus from Essie to try: their new Essie Speed Setter Ultra Fast Dry Top Coat – $10.99 – is a super quick drying top coat which dries (to the touch) in under a minute, really dries nails in about five minutes, and has an ultra-shiny finish and works with any Essie (or any other) polish.
As always, you can ask for Essie at your favorite nail salon, and buy your favorites for $9 per bottle. For more information visit Essie.com
