Essie’s Nail Collection for Summer 2016 Takes You to Antigua
Essie’s Summer 2016 Nail Lacquer Collection Viva Antigua reminds me of my first airplane trip. We had to make an emergency landing in the middle of the night, and we landed on the Island of Antigua. I dimly remember the lush landscape, tall palm trees, the trill of exotic birds. I vividly remember how exotic it all seemed!
Fast forward to Summer 2016 and Essie is focusing on Antigua in a nail lacquer collection with vibrant colors of red, blue, green, white and charcoal, a half dozen colors of sea, sky, flora, fauna and crafts.
ANTIGUA’S COLORS EXCITE THE SENSES:
At first glance, the colors in Viva Antigua seem to be more for July 4th in the USA (or nautical) than tropical no but who cares? Viva Antigua’s colors are exceptionally clear in tone, bright and cheerful for Summer. They are the classic colors you crave in warmer weather, when deep berries, reds, blacks, browns and grays seem too grim for happy days in the sun.
Some of the colors in Essie’s Viva Antigua are more opaque than others but two coats will cover in all cases except for Viva Antigua, which looks better with 2-3 coats.
THE ESSIE VIVA ANTIGUA COLLECTION:
The standout in the Viva Antigua collection is an unexpected ivory white (Coconut Grove) the color of a very good vanilla ice cream. Many white shades are difficult to use because the coverage is streaky, but this one covers completely in two coats with a warm creamy white that is really flattering on every skin tone. It looks particularly good on ruddy and warm skin.
Loot the Booty needs at least two coats top become the shimmery sapphire blue that is the trendy color of the season. Once you put on the polish, the deep blue shimmer in this one sparkles a bit and is summer-sun perfect.
Viva Antigua slides on rather sheer and uneven, so you will have to use at least two coats to get smooth coverage, but the turquoise green is a lovely Summertime color that’s modern and pretty for toes and well as fingers.
Another standout in this collection is Hiking Heels, a clear bright red that is not too orange or blue, it’s the color red you want you convertible to be as you zoom down the highway!
Good coverage and a deep rose pink is yours with Berried Treasure, billed as a ruby berry, it’s really on the neutral clear deep pink side, and totally gorgeous– wear this one for date night or that special event.
Tribal Text-Styles surprises with lots of silver shimmer n a charcoal gray base. It’s pretty and I love it, but unless you can’t give up goth colors for warmer weather, save it for late August and Fall.
Essie polish now sells for $9.00 a bottle, and you can ask for it in most nail salons. All Essie nail polishes are DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde-free.
