Fashion Feature: All You Need To Transition to Fall
By Alison Blackman
Fall is the time of year when the weather can quickly turn from warm to chilly and back to warm.
You’re not ready to stow your Summer clothes but it’s not really time for turtlenecks, either.
The answer to this transitional weather is one fabulous coat that works as a layering piece and works with everything from jeans to dresses.
Joseph Ribkoff’s Fall 2017 collection has a lightweight coat that has got you covered!
The Joseph Ribkoff black coat ($340 Style: 173327) is so chic and versatile! It’s available in sizes 2 to 22!
The graceful bubble hem, cuffs with strap detailing, and large pockets make this a statement coat.
But even if you don’t belt it, the proportions are still elegant and not overwhelming.
My favorite feature is the overlapping button-down collar with snap closure above the full-length zipper that looks good open or closed.
What makes this coat transitional is the weight. It’s lined so it keeps off the chill now under your warm weather clothing (at night when the temperature drops now).
If will also work into the Winter if you are wearing layers.
The fabric is “Scuba:” 95% Polyester, 5% Spandex with a 100% polyester lining.
This fabric doesn’t like to be dry cleaned — just wash it by hand in cold water wash or use the delicate/hand wash setting on your machine and hang it up to dry.
No ironing is really necessary but if you use an iron on low on the reverse side, it’s ok.

SilkCut Lets You Layer:
Layering is the best way to keep yourself stylish and warm.
This Tani Underwear SilkCut Camisole $50 is luxuriously soft and lightweight, knit in Europe with naturally-wicking Micro Modal® Air fabric that’s thinner and softer than silk.
For those who care, this 94% Micro Modal® Air | 6% Elastane cami from Tani is actually biodegradable! Just machine wash tumble dry low.
The SilkCut Women’s full slip $95 is also made of Micro Modal® Air fabric. The slip is substantial enough to be worn as a dress.
I wore both the cami and the slip to New York Fashion Week. I paired the slip with a long sweater and a sparkling pin made of Preciosa Crystals. Fans of “The Blonds” know these crystals were used in The Blonds runway show.
The fabric is body conscious but it stretches and recovers as it lightly forms and shapes to your body. For more information visit https://www.taniusa.com/

A Head-Turning Handbag:

The Kent Stetson Lipstick Clutch ($108) adds a pop of color and features a full sized “faux” lipstick on the flap.
Wear it as a clutch or with the detachable chain as a cross body bag
There’s a cool clear vinyl pocket on the fabric-lined clutch with snap closure (Dimensions: 12 x 7 x 1).

I had the pleasure of visiting the Annick Goutal flagship store on NYC’s Madison Avenue to sniff all the Annick Goutal fragrances. There are so many beautiful ones, but here are two that really make a unique statement and will work well this Fall and throughout the year:
Tenue de Soiree Retail ($190 / 3.4 fl. oz. and $125 / 1.7 fl. oz.) was created by perfumer Mathieu Nardin.
it is a relatively new addition to the Annick Goutal collection, immediately recognizable by the detachable purple pom pom (use it as an additional accessory)!
Tenue de Soiree (“evening dress”) may be focused on a younger, affluent girl who can afford better fragrances.
But this modern Chypre has all the elements of sophistication a woman of any age will like.
The soft fragrance stands out thanks to notes of blueberry, nectarine, bergamot, osmanthus, iris, patchouli, woody notes, heliotrope, vanilla, benzoin a modern chypre.
The purple ombre-tinted bottle is supposed to evoke a purple sky at dusk. Without the pom pom, the bottle is simple with a small, textured label proclaiming the name” Tenue de Soirée.”
For those who love floral fragrances but don’t want something so boringly predictable, I have selected Annick Goutal’s Rose Pompon (Pink Tassel) Eau de Toilette, $149.00 3.4 fl. oz.
Annick Goutal’s daughter Camille is the next generation and collaborated o collaborate on this fabulous rose fragrance that feels fresher (almost green) than any other rose fragrance you’ve ever tried.
The fragrance arrives in the now iconic Annick Goutal “ribbed” glass bottle with round golden topper, but it is in ombre pink and festooned with a bolo-tie type gold charm on a thin black thread around the neck of the bottle.
I love the whimsical and charming outer packaging as well, featuring a drawing of a woman’s body but she’s almost covered by a giant pink rose that she is carrying!
It is only after the scent has mingled with your body chemistry for a while that the lovely rose becomes obvious.
The notes include a spicy top note of Rose Pepper followed by Blackcurrant and Raspberry.
Bulgarian Rose Essence is in the heart with The Taïf Rose and Peony. Cedar and Patchouli in the bottom notes keep the fragrance from being warm and far from the same-old, along with some sensual, soft White Musks.
