In just a few weeks, the fashion world will be in the middle of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week For Spring 2012, at Lincoln Center in New York City. I will be there, too, as I have for more than 16 fashion week seasons.
Which brings me to the point of this post: Maybelline is one of the official sponsors of Fashion week, and one of the things they generally do, is offer a lounge and a view of the latest Maybelline products and colors to fit the season. For Fashion Week in September, Maybelline is sure to be showcasing the 54 shades of Color Sensational Lipcolor. This luxe lipcolor costs just $7.49 but it is synonymous with fashionista pouts every season. The shades are grouped into color families, and there are intensities and formulas to fit every complexion. check out my review from 2009 when Maybelline launched Color Sensational at the South Street Seaport in NYC. Back then there were just 48 colors, but the line has expanded. The ten newest arrive as: High Shine Lipcolor: Pink Freeze, Disco Pink, Glisten Up Pink, Mauvilous Shine, Fruit Punch, Plum Shine, Dazzling Plum, Coral Lustre, Nude Glow. and Lacquered Brown. These shine-filled lipsticks arrive not in the usual. semi-clear, rectangular tubes, but in shiny, silver ones. They’re really luxe looking. The colors can be worn semi-sheer, or opaque and intense (with layering). You really get your money’s worth of looks out of these.
Also new, and available now is Eye Studio Color Explosion Lumizing EyeShadow. $10.99 gets you five, shimmery shadows in a chic, slim, black compact with clear top. Three triangles of lid color coordinate for lid and crease, while a thin “V” of shadow color is a deeper accent or a liner. The extra something is the luminizing topcoat that brings out multi-dimensional shimmer. What’s particularly great about these shadow compacts is that while the shadows are already shimmery, that coordinated top coat really transforms them from a day look, to a nearly metallic, night look. Again, you get a lot for your money from one compact of color. There’s Caffeine Rush, Amethyst Ablazed, Forest Fury, Blue Blowout and Pink Punch. I have been loving green for the past few seasons, and “Forest Fury” really is a knockout. The Lime and jade green shadows work well with teh champagne shadow and the dark, forest green liner/accent. But when you slick on a bit of the glittery golden topcoat, magical things happen! All the color combos are easy to wear, and fun to play with. You won’t be able to resist them!
If you need more drama, line your eyes with the Eye Studio Master Drama Cream Pencil. The slim, swivel up liner pencil is super-soft like a cream, yet it is intense, and it stays where you put it.This pencil is affordable at just $7.99 and it comes in six bold, intense colors: midnight master, Vibrant violet, made of steel, bold brown, sapphire strength, and coal commader. What is particuarly good about this product is that it is really easy to apply, but once it is on your lids, it is waterproof, smudge-resistant, and lasts for hours and hours. If you’ve been reluctant to try liner because it’s just too hard to apply, or you end up with “raccoon eyes” after an hour. you’ll be amazed when you try this pencil that does so much, for so little!
…and don’t forget the mascara — it’s the “frame” for your eyes. Maybelline’s new Falsies Flared by Volm” Express is available in washable and waterproof formulas. It has a formula enriched with ‘Kera” fibers and a film former that help to coax lashes up and out. The mascara brush has a long, curved spoon brush to elongate lashes and set the lash surface for a lifting effect. If your lashes are already pretty long, this mascara make them really look almost as if you were wearing false lashes. if your lashes aren’t so great, the deep color and brush that quickly coats every single lash, will make them look full and a lot lusher. Look for the silver wings on the cap of the purple mascara case. *also check out the Advice Sisters review of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in three dressed-up, designer tubes for a 40th anniversary collectible!
