Water, or rather, the sea, was the theme of Rolando Santana’s stunningly elegant show for Spring 2013, showing the contrast between the tranquility of the sea and the astonishing strength of its waves. The show began with start white suits and cocktail dresses, and progressed through various shades of blue and green, with touches of coral, all inspired by the majesty of water.
Backstage, I got a quick peek at the hair looks, created by Patrick Melville. This charming man works with many, many celebrities, and I’ve been fortunate to enjoy his work on my own hair, with visits to his absolutely lovely, Patrick Melville Salon nestled into the heart of Rockefeller Center in NYC.
For this show, Patrick did a beachy straight hair that looked artful, but purposely not too “done.”
The key ingredient in making texture for the long, swinging hair, was a secret weapon every woman can use: Aveeno Pure Renewal Dry Shampoo. It is new in the fabulous, Pure Renewal line.
While dry shampoo is best known for absorbing odors, excess oil and adding another day of life to hair that really looks sadly flat and dirty, it can also be used to add texture. Dry shampoo was being sprayed in clouds like a veil of hairspray around and into the model’s long locks, then roughed up a bit to make the lovely look you can see here as models strutted down the runway.
