For the designer’s third foray into the tents at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York, Toni Francesc’s Spring 2011 collection was met with approval, and a jubilant Mr. Francesc’s running down the runway at the finale.
Called, “Urban Forest,” the press literature informs me that the colelction is “an interpretation of a forest-based city environment. This concept leads us through an intelligent forest in which we feel closer and more in touch with our natural surroundings.”
What really strikes me about this collection is that from my vantage point, the clothes seemed tranquil and gracious, but when I looked at the photos I took later that evening, I realized that there was a lot of artistry–draping, buckles, and these amazing wood jewelry/accents. You really need to get up close and personal with Toni Francesc’s clothes, to appreciate their true beauty.
The color palette, like so many for Spring 2011, is for the most part, an easy to wear palette of neutrals: beige, white and grey with slightly deeper accents. But the linen, cotton and silk garments were far from eco-crunchy.” In fact, the artfully draped and buckled designs reminded me of ancient Greece!
Mr. Francesc studied at the Instituto Catalan de la Moda from 1986- 1988 and shortly after created the Toni Francesc S.L. Company. He has also collaborated with several prestigious television, theater and Spanish productions serving as their wardrobe designer.
Whether you’re in an Urban Forest, or just part of the Urban Jungle, these clothes will make you feel like a goddess! Check out: http://www.tonifrancesc.es/
