The new year has started and for some, continued anxiety about giving or getting gifts. (Read: He Didn’t Give Me A Gift, Does It Mean He Isn’t Into Me?) This story is the most popular of our advice category all year long.
There are some good strategies to handle gifting if you’re in a relationship, especially a new one.
However, this story isn’t about hoping for a gift from a romantic partner although she/he might buy these gift suggestions for you. Instead, with Valentine’s Day nearly here, I am suggesting special but affordable gifts for your besties, and for yourself!
Friends/Lovers Forever? This Jewelry is for Them:
The symbol for Infiniti is a well-recognized one for “never-ending.” It’s also a perfect way to show someone that your love (or friendship) is boundless, too. The delicate gold-toned Bonds and Wonders Amoro Infiniti Set featuring a bracelet and necklace with the Infiniti symbol in the middle is the perfect way to express how you feel this Valentines’ Day.
Both the necklace and the bracelet are made with a 14k Gold Filled chain and components, and a Gold-Plated Infinity Charm. The chains are delicate but really do make a statement. You can layer this with other pieces, but they do look lovely on their own. The necklace is 17″ + 2″ extender and the bracelet will fit small to medium wrists at 6″ + 1″ extender (the L/XL version measures 7″+1″ extender).
I think this delicate necklace and bracelet look great on their own. The necklace is on my neck in the photo, the bracelet has the same size infinite charm. my photo). But it’s simple and elegant therefore it’s also good for layering with other pieces. Both the necklace and the bracelet are just $80 as a set. Keep Someone Safe(r) With This Cool Tool:
I came across this nifty little multi-tasking Camping Tool Card ($35) from Tacticagear. If you’ve ever watched “Naked + Afraid” on TV, this is the tool I’d want to have in my bag if they sent me out in the middle of nowhere! But this little tool could actually save your life if you are traveling, hiking, baiting, camping, or even in your car. The lightweight thin metal tool has many uses from a bottle and a can opener to an inch and also a metric ruler, but it can even help you start a fire thanks to a Ferrocerium striker rod firestarter.
Other items on the card include a rope cutter and robe tensioner, tent peg puller, party bar, flat screwdriver, and even a sundial. There is a hole in the top to put this on a string or a keychain. There’s a lot going on here but it’s no larger than a credit card. Instructions are graphics that easily show you how to use the firestarter and all the other functions.
Show someone they are important to you with this little tool. I got one for my husband. But I have it in my purse. Don’t be caught out on the road, or biking/hiking/camping without one. It is also TSA compliant.
Tacticagear has other nice tools as well. But I think this one makes a nice Valentines’ Day gift for your favorite sportsperson. for more information visit The Tacticagear website
This is a Gem of a Gift!
When I think of Baccarat I think of luxury, and of course, crystal. However, did you know that Baccarat makes jewelry? For Valentines Day why not give a red “gem” that turns heads.
Parisian designer Marie-Hélène de Taillac For Baccarat designed a peony-colored statement necklace. The piece of signed Baccarat Crystal has an 18K gold bezel. The crystal is an emerald-cut peony crystal. The red cord can be adjusted from a choker to a long jewel that nestles into your decollete! It is small but gorgeous and makes quite a statement. The crystal pendant is W: 1/2″ x L: 5/8″ and made in France, of course!
But that’s not the end of this story.
I saw this pretty pendant among many others at Gifting Brands. The website also has fashion and other accessories. Gifting Brands not only has all sorts of great items to choose for yourself or for gifts at a discount, but they also let you make a difference with your purchase. Great brands donate items from clothing to handbags to jewelry and they get a tax credit. When you shop these items, you also can choose a charity and 100% of the profits go to that charity to women, children, and families in need. This is such a lovely way to also give such a lovely gift! For more information visit: https://giftingbrands.com/

Fit To Be Tied!

Top counter-clockwise: Headband “Eat Glitter for Breakfast” “Think Pink” ; Large Spirals “Counting Karats & Scarlett Red”; Small Spiral Scarlett Red” TELETIES Sticker
Something small and simple can make a huge change in your life. That’s how I felt when I first discovered spiral hair elastics. These hold your hair well, but don’t cause pain or pull your hair when you want to remove them. There have been many different types of spiral hair ties since I tried them back in 2015. Now I’ve found TELETIES. Their spiral hair elastics (and hairbands) give back. There are so many different types and designs! Some are pearlized or metallic, others are one color or sets of three different colors or prints. Still, others (e.g. the clear Counting Karats”) have metallic embellishments.
Teleties’ colorful, stretchy, plastic ponytail spirals won’t hurt when you pull them out. However, they can be used to style an updo (try the large spirals) or quickly make a bun, or simply add some color to your hairstyle. You can wear one (or stack several) on your wrist as a waterproof bracelet. When you need one (e.g. at the gym, in the heat, the beach, the pool, etc.) you will always have them handy. I always have at least one in my purse and more when I travel. They make a bad hair day better, and also work in a pinch to hold a book open or close a plastic bag. These colorful trio packs are $8 for small and $10 for large. Headbands are $9 and tiny spirals are 4 to a pack at $9.

New for Valentine’s Day! “Pucker Up:” has two spirals with pink and red lips and one solid red. The “XOXO ” has a white solid and two with tiny pink and white hearts. Small-$7 for each set.
However, with each purchase TELETIES donates to FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered). FORCE is a non-profit organization that aims toward improving the lives of people and families affected by hereditary breast, ovarian and related cancers. For more information visit the TELETIES website.
