It’s not the cost that makes a memorable gift. Small gifts and “non-romantic” gifts can also be a big gesture. To make them amazing, they should reflect the interests of the recipient. May 10th 2020 is Mothers’ Day. Here are gift ideas for mothers (and others we love and honor). You will want these as well. Fortunately, they’re reasonably priced.
They’re Always on the Phone:
Social media queen or just social in general, we all spend time on our phones. iPads and tablets these days. Something needs to provide the power!
The MyCharge HUBTurbo portable charger 6700mAh from MyCharge is mighty in many ways. For starters, the 6,700 mAh plugs into the wall, but it has two built-in cables (a lightning cable with power delivery and a USB-C with quick charge) and a built-in universal USB port.
Tip: be gentle pulling the built-in cables. They’re strong, but you won’t want to bend or yank them too much.
The charger fits in the palm of your hand, but it can charge up to three devices at once with what MyCharge claims is up to a 75% faster charge. With up to 4x extra battery power she’ll pop this in her purse or tote and never be “down” again.
You can get this in a number of places, but $90 makes a great gift for mothers and others. For more information visit the MyCharge website (they have tons of other powerbanks, too)
Spa-Ahh!
*Advicesisters.com recently reviewed the iHome Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser Alarm Clock with Sound Therapy (iZA40) in detail (see advicesisters review). It’s such a great gift idea I’m suggesting it again.
Advicesisters.com has reviewed many iHome products on advicesisters.com and they always excite with innovative products. It’s high tech luxury at affordable prices.
If sleep eludes you, this new, small Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser can help. It does a lot for the modest $80 price tag.
In summary(read the advicesisters review) the Zenergy Aromatherapy Dream is a clock with dual alarms and a nice LED readout. But it also has aromatherapy and sound therapy up to 8 hours each.
Control aromatherapy, sound modes, alarms, and timers from a distance with the oval-shaped remote that is housed right on top of the unit.
It’s such a fabulous find that you’ll want one for yourself as well as for gift ideas for mothers and others! The Zenergy Aroma Dream can be found at Amazon, Kohl’s and other fine retailers across the USA.

Into the Mystic!
The tarot deck has long been the purveyor of prophecy and the answer to questions. Various types of tarot card decks have been used since the 15th century. Each colorfully decorated card has a specific meaning, and depending upon placement can mean different things.
A new deck is the Shadowland Tarot by Monica Bodirsky (Red Feather (March 28, 2020). This deck is beautifully boxed with a book, The 78 tarot cards with ink and watercolor creatures, are edged in gold. The designs are made up of slightly creepy, “nightmare before Christmas” characters.
The accompanying guidebook offers more than the mere basics. You’ll find what you need to “access your shadows and reveal hidden truths.”
The book consists of a detailed introduction to shadows and shadow work, with card meanings, reflection questions, and easy-to-follow card layouts. With a bit of practice, tarot cards might help you find solutions to everyday challenges as well as complex or concealed conditions. Get this on Amazon
Jazz Up Her Life:
Progressive jazz is a joy for fans. For those who aren’t familiar. Progressive Jazz refers to a type of experimental and somewhat dissonant big-band music of the 1950s. Two new CDs make great gift ideas.
Saxophonist Keith Oxman’s latest CD is Two Cigarettes in the Dark (Capri Records, 20002). The album features Keith Oxman of course, with a guest appearance from veteran Houston Person (Person is on 6 of the 10 tracks).
Two of the songs feature soulful vocalist Annette Murrell.
Mr. Oxman contributes 3 of his original compositions and pianist Jeff Jenkins penned one of the tunes. Get this CD on Amazon.
Jazz CD “For Now”
My 2nd suggestion is the soon to be released in May CD “For Now.” It features jazz musicians Brian Landrus (Baritone Saxophone), Fred Hersch (Piano), Drew Gress (Bass) and Billy Hart on drums.
Also joining in are Sara Caswell and Joyce Hammann on violin, and a host of other accomplished musicians.
Jazz can be raucous, swinging, dissonant, or sometimes as in the case of “Clarity For Now” the 2nd track on For Now, super serene and sensual.
This is the CD you want when you’re having your first dinner with a new love, and you want to set the mood.
It will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and everywhere else you can buy and stream music.
Score Points With Sporks!
In my house, we are always running out of flatware because the dishwasher isn’t quite full enough to run. It’s always a fork you need, when all you have is spoons, and vice-versa. One way to always have enough silverware is with a spork.
A spork is a multi-tasking half spoon, half fork. CraftKitchen Classic Collection serves up half a dozen nicely boxed sporks for gifting. These 18/0 Stainless Steel sporks are dishwasher safe and never need polishing.
These Classic Collection Craft Kitchen sporks have a simple design that goes with almost any other flatware.
You may think you don’t need sporks, but once you use them you’ll see how versatile they are! These make mothers and others gifts easy and affordable.
You can find these on amazon, and many other housewares for under $12. retail sites. You even get a limited lifetime warranty!
