Gold Toes– Stylish Spring Socks

During the early part of last century, two German immigrants founded a small mill in Bally, Pennsylvania to manufacture men’s hosiery. As the story goes, in tribute to the country that adopted them, they named their company Great American Knitting Mills. During the great depression, when their customers required socks that would wear better and last longer than ever before, Great American introduced a sock with a gold reinforcing yarn sewn in the toe. This “durable “sock with the gold toe” is the GOLDTOE® hosiery men have relied on ever since then. I am one of those people who seems to get a hole in the big toe of just one sock, each pair. Maybe I just have pointy toes, or maybe, I just haven’t purchased durable socks1 In any case, it means that I’m always replacing my socks, and have a lot of “lonely-toes” in my sock drawer. What more can you say about socks except that we all need them, we all wear them, and we might as well pick products that perform well and look good. So far, my GOLDTOE® socks are bearing up under the strain of my apparently lethal big toes, and look especially cute with clogs. I highly recommend them.

TIP: the best way to wash these socks (and probably, most other brands) is to launder them inside out. Use only Non-Chlorine bleach when needed. Machine wash and tumble dry at low temperatures.
