A Great Shout-Out to Twist & Pout Lip Balm

It is nearly May and you’re looking for a little pick-me-up that’s fun, and also really useful? I’ve got the perfect thing: Twist & Pout lip balms!

Not long ago, at the Gift Show at the Javits Center in New York, I re-connected with Marni, a childhood friend that I literally hadn’t seen in more than 40 years. As she and I enjoyed re-kindling our friendship, while walking round the show, she told me that her college-aged daughter’s favorite lip balm was being shown at one of the booths. She knew I reviewed beauty products, and together, we went to check it out. We walked over to where Twist & Pout was being exhibited, and I instantly fell in love!

The display featured tons of colorful little orbs that looked like over sized marbles. Some also had a silvery holster that encircled the ball, from which hung a large, lobster claw clasp, allowing you to clip the ball to your purse, or belt loop, backpack, or whatever. There were so many different designs! But these colorful balls hold a special secret: the containers twist open to reveal a silky, orange-scented and flavored lip balm.

Obviously, I had to try it. And when I did, I was even more excited. The packaging might look like it’s a toy, but the lip balm is serious stuff. It’s clear and moist, but not overly shiny (so guys can share it with you). It is, in essence, high quality oils, butters and full spectrum UVA/UVB protection along with the natural, citrus flavor. The balm really does hydrate fast and in the end, the cutest packaging in the world won’t make me give it high praise, unless the product it contains is equally stellar. When it comes to Twist & Pout, it delivers on all counts!

True, kids may love them and young girls may collect them as boys do baseball cards, but adults will appreciate that these are more than just pleasing to the eyes and lips. They offer an eye-catching, and easy way to carry lip balm without having to forage for it in the bottom of your handbag or pocket. I also like the fact that the balm is initially sealed with a plastic pull cap, to keep the balm, fresh and soft.

I can’t even suggest one design that is best, although I was partial to a pink ball with Zig–ZAG “Missoni” inspired design. And since I’m a cat lover, the Purr-fection collection featuring animal prints, appeals to my wild side. But there are themes and prints to suit everyone: animal prints, nautical themes, breast cancer pink ribbon, sports themes, even some that show your school spirit. Twist and Pout Lip Balm SPF 20 introduces eight new designs every 120 days to reflect the season, and also whatever is trendy at that moment. There are even a few tinted glosses, also with SPF 20.

Although these Twist & Pout products are packaged in the round, they weigh 4.5 grams, the same as a normal stick balm. Get them for $9.50 each with Lip Clip attachment, $7 each without TIP: if you plan to use a lot of different twist and pouts, the Lip Clip will lift off one cap and fit onto another.
