Back in January I discovered a new products line from Burts Bees, called” Güd.” This new, nicely scented, cheerful line of hair, body and hand care is so affordable, but luxurious. It can really make your day a little more pampering, even if you’re on a strict budget.
These budget-friendly, nicely scented products are nicely packaged in plastic pump bottles, tubes and jars, with colorful graphics, without “bad stuff” like phthlates, petrochemicals, parabens, or animal testing. The products are inexpensive, but they don’t look or smell that way. In fact the fragrances were developed as high end, with fragrance expert Roger Schmidt, and fragrance company Givaudan. My favorite product from Güd is the foaming hand soap, because a foaming soap is just fun for everyone (including kids). But it’s also the cheapest piece in the line at $4.99. All the products perform well — actually, impressively well!
For warmer weather, the collection that I like is Floral Cherrynova (Cherry Blossom & Almond Milk). It’s fresh and girly and won’t smell cloying when your body temperature rises. Spritz on a bit of Body Mist, to keep the scent going a bit longer and stronger. Floral Cherrynova has top notes of juicy bing cherries and and fresh greens, and a heart of rosewood and a white floral bouquet, and bottom notes of warm milk accord and creamy musk. But the overall scent is a light fruity floral that is neither too sweet or too tart, tempered a bit by creamy bottom notes. As the baby bear might have proclaimed: “just right.”
The line includes Body Wash (10 oz $6.99), Shampoo and a Conditioner (each $12.99 for 12 fl .oz) Body Butter ($11.99 6 o), Body Lotion ($6.99 8 oz), Body Mist (3 oz $5.99), Foaming Hand Wash (8 oz. $4.99) and a Hand Cream (3 pz $7.99).
If you want to try the other “scent-nitures,” they are: Orange Petalooza, Pearanormal Activity and Vanilla Flame.
The differences between Burts Bees and Güd are not quality, but scents, and presentation. Whereas Burts Bees is good, family-oriented skincare sold in health care stores and places like Whole Foods (as well as mass market retailers), Güd is more flirty and glamorous. It’s for everyone, but especially younger women who want good skin care, but don’t want it to be so “serious.”
You can find more about Güd online, and in stores such as Target, Harris Teeter, Kroger, Ulta and Walgreens. If you’ve tried it, please leave a comment in the Comments section below, and let me know what you think!
