May brings more than just nice weather and lots of flowers, early May also brings the release of a Summer makeup collection by Guerlain. The collection features new shades of Ombre Eclat 4 shade Eyeshadow, Ombre Eclat 1 Shade Eyeshadow and KissKiss Baby lipstick.
In addition, a signature of Guerlain’s line, Météorites Powder for the Face, has been revamped to feature new colors and a new packaging. The new Météorites powder, called Météorites Perles, is available in rose, beige and golden tones with an embossed silver metal box. I didn’t try these, but they look beautiful, don’t they?
I did try the new KissKiss Baby $30.00 262 in Cherry Summer (clear, cherry). There’s also a cheery coral/peach. The usual, gold tube of Kiss Kiss Lipstick, is for this product, a matte silver, both modern, and bold. The tube holds a super-luxe lip balm with color and good for your lips ingredients, including wild mango butter (an emollient); Luffa Oil to nourish dried-out and chapped lips; and Oligopeptides (proteins + trace elements) that help your lips look full, as well as soft.
Ditto the compact for Ombre Eclat Eye Shadow $50.00. The #409 Ombres Perlees quartet arrives in a smooth, matte silver compact that is almost square, but with a few raised areas…like a stone smoothed by water. It is almost like a touchstone….you want to keep holding it. Open the lid and find a nice mirror, and four, embossed shadows. Two with an overlay of a delicate, pastel blossom and what looks like the rays of the run, two just with the rays. The amazingly silky, blendable, luxurious shadows arrive in warm and earthy tones, that are soft as a whisper. Three are very opaque, and matte. The fourth is a shimmered bronze that looks deep, but blends into a lovely, medium-toned contour or lid color. Your eyes will look like they’ve been kissed by the sun–gorgeous on everyone from very pale, to deep and tanned. Pop the compact into it’s signature, black, velvet pouch and you’ll feel like a sun-kissed princess!
I also received some items from the 2010 Guerlain Terracotta Collection:
These products are specifically designed to flatter a tan, and come in shades that are workable for various skin types. You won’t look like the great pumpkin, promise! There is definitely one for you
Terracotta Light Bronzing Powder $50.00 comes in a new and gorgeous, round, amber-colored compact showing off a graceful swirl design under the top. Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder has a new formula that is good for all skin types, and still has the expected, mosaic of five shades of compact powder (including a highlighter) to create a natural-looking glow. The product comes in light, medium and dark. I got Dark 03 (the photo is the light one). Normally, I’d only choose #01 Light, but I dusted it on, anyway. The different colors and the sheer formula produced a disconcerting, Olivia of “Jerseylicious” look. But that’s just on me! The truth is, you just have to know what shade is best for you. Since there are several, you’ll know how dark to go and which one to choose! There’s also a Terracotta Touch $40.00. It is a concealer in a brush-tipped pen that helps deal with shadows and dark circles on tanned skin. There’s one for blondes (medium apricot tan) and for Brunettes (warm bronze).
I also got a chance to try the gorgeous, awesome, Guerlain Terracotta Moisturizing Sun Shimmer Gloss SPF15 $30.00 that comes in six sunny shades (to enhance a tan, real or faux): are 01 SABLE,, 02 SIERRA 03 GRENADE, 04 AMBRE, 05 SANTAL, and 06 ÉBÈNE (this is the one in my photo). I received the middle shade #03 Grenade ( a clear, deep rose) and the deepest, #06 Ebene ( a gorgeous, browned/mauved/rose). Packaging goes a long way to making your personal experience with a product, superior. These silky lip glosses don’t just come in a regular vial with wanded top. They mimic the packaging of other Guerlain Products that have an “amphora” shape. This one is richly accented with coppery, metallic plastic on the top of the tube, and for the elegant, elongated, “keyhole” topped handle. The gloss itself coats your lips with semi-sheer color and lots of shine. The product doesn’t just protect with SPF 15, it literally soothes and covers your lips in a blanket of silky, moisturizing ingredients including nourishing Marula Oil.
