Pros know that good tools help them perform like super stars. When it comes to beauty,comes to beauty, good hair tools help you have good hair (and who doesn’t want that)? But you don’t have to spend a fortune to get some fabulous hair tools to try. For example, Vidal Sassoon’s New Pro Series Appliances are pro-style, but affordably priced.
In case you are too young to remember him, Vidal Sassoon was the “rock star” British hairdresser as famous for his architectural wedge cuts in the swinging 60’s, as other stylists were for “The Farah” and “The Rachel” in later decades. Even though he’s no longer with us, his innovative spirit lives on in Vidal Sassoon Pro Series tools that are easy to use, while they help protect color, smooth hair without frizz, and add volume with shine. Who wouldn’t want to use tools designed for pro-style results?!

This is super cool. A wide 1 1/2″ flat iron has a mirror on the top of the plate, show you can check yourself out as you flat iron. This is really fabulous when you’re on the go and there isn’t a mirror around. It’s a great idea for a travel tote/beachbag or any place you’re planning to flat iron when you’re not at home. There is even locking storage, so you don’t have any problems, and automatic dual voltage. The lighted control panel is also nicely situation on the top near the mirror, so you don’t have to awkwardly stick your hand in-between the plates to adjust the temperature Which heats up in 30 seconds). A substantial swivel cord and automatic shut-off is nice, and the iron is very lightweight, saving your arms and hands from fatigque. This iron is particularly nice if your hair is long and thick, because the plates are wide. There is no curve to them, however, so you’ll get a sleek, straight look but you can’t flip the ends under. But if what you want is an effective iron at a great price to “steamroll” though your unruly curls and frizz, this one does it!

VSIR3254 – Flipperless Tapered Iron Natural looking curls are best achieved with tapered irons. VSIR3253 – 3-in-1 Waver – $39.99 One tool, three styles! I tried this fun tool, that lets you create natural, defined, or tousled waves by simply adjusting the interchangeable barrel to the setting you want. This 3 in 1 multi-tasking waver has tourmaline ceramic technology for frizz free waves, multiple heat settings, dual voltage, and a locking switch for easy storage. It comes with a heat glove (a nice touch, since you really can burn yourself on a styler that has heat going up to 400 degrees (there are multiple heat settings). there is also a wire stand that flips open to hold the hot part of the iron away from your furniture. A slider switch o the top of the styler opens it up, revealing either the two-pronged part for tousled weaves (uwrap hair in a figure eight design around the two prongs) or the bottom part that has two indents for natural waves or defined waves. Press an almond shaped black button on the bottom of the larger indented head and it pops out, leaving you with a marcel-style two pronged waver on it’s own to make what they call tousled waves. Press your hair between both sides, and depending upon how you position your hair you’ll get , natural waves, or defined waves. A nice touch is that it has dual voltage, too.
At first this heat styler looks a bit unwieldy and it is a bit heavy, but very intriguing. I really wanted to get started right away, but I read the There are a lot of safety warnings . If you are using this for the first time, use the lowest setting first and test a section for 5-8 seconds. Remember that heat stylers can damage your hair. Use a good protective speay, like Redken’s Iron Shape 11 or perhaps Rene Furters’ LISSEA line for sensitive scalp. Read the instructions carefully to figure out how to do the various looks. Use the glove when you’re wrapping your hair…it is just too easy to get burned. the instructions are terrible. Feel your way around the waver, slowly. My first attempt created waves, but they were rather crimpy. Another nice thing: there is a two year limited warranty. BONUS! A TRUE HAIR TOOL THAT COSTS A LITTLE, DOES A LOT!
Heat stylers are a must, but getting volume at the roots is one of those elusive things, like a unicorn. You want to believe, but it’s hard to find an actual product that works. HICLIPS is a new and novel little styling tool that lets you build the height you want at the roots, without having to resort to rollers or tons of goopy products. These three-pronged plastic clips work on wet or dry hair, designed only to be used during styling, then removed for lasting fullness. Clip HICLIPS at the crown of your head, bangs or above the neckline for volume even without additional product. You can adjust the clips to add volume to any place on your head that needs it. My hair tends to fall flat around the sides, so I slipped a HICLIP into my hair at the crown on both sides, while my hair was damp. I used my blow dryer and left the clips in for a while longer, for good measure. The instruction say you can leave them in overnight or for prolonged periods of time if you wish. Carefully, I removed the clips and lightly fluffed my hair. I added a light mist of Kerestase’ fabulous hair spray. I was prepared to laugh and be disaappointed, but my hair was a lot fuller than if I’d just used a round brush. You need to practice a bit to get the clips in so that there aren’t any crimps, and so that the volume is equal on both sides, but still, they’re pretty amazing.
