Now that NY Fashoin Week is over, and the Advice Sisters are streaming video from the Milan and the Paris runways, Cricket has compiled some fresh hairstyles that you might just want to try. Braids, 70’s-inspired big curls, and intricate up-do’s will be the styles to watch. Cricket VIP Stylist, Melissa Peverini, is here to show you how to get these looks right at home; professional stylist optional.

To get the beautiful braided nape-skimming braid crown from Christian Siriano’s FW13 show, begin by blow drying hair with the Centrix Q-Zone Dryer.Create a straight part down the center of hair, all the way to neck with the tail-end of the Amped UP Teasing Brush. Smooth each side, then divide each side into two sections above the ear and smooth with the Friction Free Paddle Brush. Take one section on the right side and create a fishtail braid. Next, take the second section on the right side and create a traditional three-strand braid. Repeat on the left side, except switch fishtail and 3-strand braid opposite from right side. For the final step, take each braid and tuck into the opposite side where the sections meet. Secure with bobby pins.

Crown of Braids
What could be better than a romantic half-up half-down incorporating a crown of braids? Rodarte was on-point with their ethereal hair look this season. Start by blow drying with Centrix Q-Zone Dryer with additional reinforcement from the Power Booster attachment. Create loose texture around the head with the Friction Free 1¼” Curling Iron. Take a 3″ section of hair from the temple, and pull away from hairline on each side. Braid both strands. Once secure, pull apart the knots to give more texture. Bring braids together to meet in the back of head and secure into each other in a messy bun using bobby pins.

70’s-Inspired Curls
To get playful, tousled retro waves from Marc Jacobs, blow dry with Centrix Q-Zone Dryer plus Power Booster and the Centrix 43MM Alumilite Brush to achieve a bit of wave. Be sure to wind the brush out of the hair rather than pulling it out, so that the curls stay put. Use the Friction Free 1¼”Curling Iron and wind hair in alternate directions to create maximum texture. With the Amped UP Teasing Brush, lightly tease random curls from root to end beginning underneath and working your way to the top, to give locks a fluffy feel. Personalize the front with a lifted part, or sweep over to one side and tuck curls underneath.
Twisted Sister
If you’re in search of a fancy evening look or want to wow your friends with a fantastic and unique style, refer to Venexiana’s twisted style for glam-spiration. To get this look, begin by blow drying hair with the Centrix Q-Zone Dryer and Static Free Comfort Collection FastFlo brush. Use the Centrix Titanium Styling Iron to flatten and smooth hair, assisting the hot tool with the Carbon Straightening Comb. Next, smooth hair flat and back with the Friction Free Paddle Brush. Criss-cross bobby pins along one side, positioning them diagonally from the nape to the temple. With the remaining hair hanging, fold over your hands, rolling upward to the bobby pins and secure as you move along. Twist and tuck the ends in the back going in opposite direction. After all is secure, smooth hair with the Amped UP Styler Brush.
