I discovered a bird’s nest on the pergola on my front deck. But that wasn’t all I saw. On the top of the nest sat a mama bird. Her head and her tail were showing and it was clear that she was sitting on some eggs that would hatch in a couple of weeks.
Every day I went out to see how she was doing. It was unusually cold during the past few nights. I am sure that she was keeping those eggs warm. I’m also sure that even for a bird, it was cold, but she never moved off her nest.
We saw this mama bird leave only once, maybe to get some food for herself.
Somehow the thought that there will be babies in that nest very soon, new lives that know nothing about Covid-19, crime, or sadness, is something that makes me happy.
#14 in my things to be happy about series on advicesisters.com is a bird in a nest.
It may seem silly because it is such a little thing, but every time I see the mama bird on her nest I feel a renewed sense of hope.
I’ll follow up when the eggs hatch! Meanwhile, the mama bird in her nest this is #13 in my Things To Be Happy About Series!
