Walmart’s Exclusive Hard Candy Makeup Collection Spring 2016
It’s Hard not to Love Hard Candy!
When I first began reviewing beauty products many many years ago, Hard Candy Cosmetics were a boutique brand with edgy makeup that was coveted by fashion and beauty mavens. Now, it’s a much larger company sold in Walmart for amazingly budget friendly prices. But that doesn’t take anything away from the fact that Hard Candy continues to be a true makeup lovers “find.” with on-trend products and colors, always in sinfully cute packaging. Here’s what’s new.
For example, on the far left of my photo above, there are 7 new Eye Def Chrome Eyeshadow Crayons($6.00/each) that arrive with little crystal rings on the shiny, metallic caps. Colors are: Gladiator, Blazing Blue, Psychedelic Purple, Electric Emerald, Adore Rose Gold, Blazing Pink and a base or highlight called Wicked White. I received Psyhadelic Purple (a shimmery berry) and Adore Rose Gold (shimmery rose gold). They’re very smooth and blend-able. The light colors make an easy one-swipe/blend lid color, and you can use a second one like the deeper purple for a liner Two shades, two swipes, a bit of smudge and your eye makeup is done. Travel friendly too!
To the left of the Eye Def Chome Eyeshadow Crayons is a package with Brow Ink ($6.00). It comes in Light Medium and Medium Dark. My brows are very light and I received the dark version so I didn’t personally test it on my tick brows, or I’d look like Groucho Marx, but I’ll tell you how it works. An in gel formula with a spiral wand applicator easily darkens your brows thanks to henna fruit actives and a longwear ink technology that Hard Candy claims will help brows stay in place for 24 hours. Oh, and the formula’s waterproof too, so dive right in!
Next to this is another brow product (brow product are a really hot, must-have item for Spring 2016). Brows Now ($7.00) is cleverly packaged, with two round compacts connected like Siamese twins by a little container in the middle holding two mini applicators and a tiny mirror. the entire lid opens from the middle latch revealing one compact holding a soft brow wax and brow highlighter, and the other, two brow powders (light and dark) that you can blend for your perfect shade. There is a Light Medium and a Medium Dark set (be sure to get the one that really suits your brows). Just a little bit of that wax goes a long way towards keeping any errant brows in place and the highlighter adds just a hint of shimmer. It’s really an innovative way to package a brow kit!
For your face and body there is Hard Candy Sheer Glow ($8.00), a skin lumimizer in six different shades (3 original — Glamazon Bronze, Doll Face and Tropical Tan) and Two Sheer — In the Buff and Blushing Babe). This product adds an instant “glow” (depending upon which one you choose that glow will be more or less intense) but it’s also a self-tanner than gradually layers over time to darken as you continue to use more of it. The moisturizing formula doesn’t smell, isn’t greasy, dries fast, is streak-proof and won’t transfer onto your clothing. It’s infused with 24 carat gold and leaves a sheer golden glow that doesn’t look cheesy. I’ll admit I’m not a fan of these types of products, but after trying it (I received”In the Buff”,”a sheer golden peach) I’ve reached for it several times already. Yup, I’m a fan!
Finally, the one product I think I’ll have to try in every color: The Velvet Mousse Matte Lipcolor ($6.00) shown in my photo in bright red “Tulip” is a lippie lovers joy. Nestled into a re-useable tin with an interior mirror like a little jewel, is a flat lip color that offers the best of an intense liquid lipstick. It smells like red velvet cake, slides on like a luxury lipgloss, offers intense matte color, but wonder of wonders, it’s moisturizing. It will transfer, but leaves a lasting stain for a long while. Oh, I love this! There are 7 colors: bold red Tulip, plus nude Daffodil, three pinks: Sweet Pea, Hibiscus, and Cherry Blossom, and two deeper berry tones: Dahlia and Wisteria.
