“Tousle” means “to disarrange or rumple; disheveled” but it’s one of those hair trends that looks cute on all hair lengths, and it’s hot this season. But this trend’s tousled look doesn’t mean a disorganized, wild mess. To get a cute “tousle” you need products, and perhaps a little bit of practice.
When it comes to the right products, you don’t have to look any further than Herbal Essence’s half-dozen, affordable, wild violet & pomegranate-scented products called “Tousle Me Softly.”
The products arrive in violet-colored, curvy, plastic bottles, with flip tops or pumps and everything is just $2.99 with the exception of the jar of finishing cream which is a mere $5.49. The collection includes Tousle Me Softly: Shampoo, Conditioner, Mousse, Finishing Cream, and two stylers–Spray Gel (to target specific areas) and Hair Spray (for overall hold).
These might seem like a lot of products for a look that is almost “bed head,” but those soft waves have to be controlled to get it right, and you also need stylers to keep it that way. Tousled hair begs to be touched, but you don’t want him to recoil from the texture. These products you not only smell great, they will give you the control you need without a nasty, “crunchy” texture.
Truthfully, my hair doesn’t really look that great with this look, but as a beauty reviewer I try everything. In terms of comparison with other products that might help you “tousle” terrifically, these were easy to use and left my hair soft and smelling light and fresh. I loved the Finishing Cream, that has styling and conditioning polymers that help to reduce frizz and flyaways, and add shine. It was a little indulgence for my hair and I’d use this for any style. The Hair Spray held with a flexible hold and that light, fresh scent that trumps a lot of the more “chemical” types. I’ve never had a bad word to say about the Herbal Essences brand of Shampoos and Conditioners and both of these were gentle and pleasant to use. If your hair is fine or flattens in a flash, the Mousse and the Spray Gel will help you get a look that has volume but still lasts..and at less than it would cost for a sandwich and a drink!
When it comes to styling this look, a little practice goes a long way (even with the right products) On the Herbal Essences Web Site there is a link to a page of how-to videos featuring models with all different hair types and lengths.
