Recently I was introduced to Homesense, a store I’d never heard of. Now that I’ve been there, I’ll definitely return often.
Homesense is home goods store somewhat akin to TJ Maxx and Marshalls. The difference between HomeGoods (and Marshalls or TJMaxx) is that while the parent company is the same, Homesense is more if a soup-to-nuts redo-a room. It has both indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting, rugs, and gadgets. The other stores focus more on smaller items such as lifestyle, giftable, food, and/or clothing. But there are plenty of decor, giftable, and lifestyle products at Homesense too.
Main Store Categories:
The stores are large and every aisle is jam-packed with items you either need, want, or want to give to someone else (the holidays will be here before you know it)! The chart below shows you the main categories of goods that Homesense offers:
I wondered which aisle of the large store I visited in the University Town Center Mall in Sarasota to go to first. The front had lighting to the right, Patio furniture outside and to the left, and in front of me, a dazzling array of lifestyle goods. After perusing some of the decor, I strolled over to the furniture. Although I wasn’t in the market for big items, I couldn’t resist this beautiful rug that was under $300. The furniture and accessories looked like they came from a designer showroom. There were styles to suit a variety to suit different tastes and budgets.

I perused the candle section with basic to beautiful holders and found some silicone spatulas and ice cube trays for my frozen herbs and berries. Everything looked new and fresh. I felt happy walking around. But then I saw the rug section….
A Great Rug:
OMG! There were as many rugs on display as a rug store (I’m not joking) and in many different sizes. This one caught my eye. I had to have it! And the nice guys there helped put it in my car.

what a great rug, and such a great price!
Go Window Shopping:
I am not sure I could go to a HomeSense store and not buy something. But even for window shopping, you will get a lot of ideas for redecorating when you need them. The thing that really surprised me was the modest prices. I could have re-done an entire room for what it would cost at another homestyle store. For more information visit

Homesense Review- The Bottom Line:
The staff was friendly and helpful. The prices are amazing. I have never been excited about a home store before but I just loved my experience at Homesense. It was fun to shop there. As I mentioned above, Homesense is part of the T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods family. Therefore, what more could you want from a store?!
