Hourglass Cosmetics Creates Luxe Lashes with Film Noir Lash Lacquer #lashlacquer and @HourglassCsmtcs

Along with being thin and rich, most every woman covets lush, long, intense lashes.  Alas, most women aren’t born with these.  But you can “buy” lash happiness if you get the right products.

A new, unique, lash enhancer called “Film Noir Lash Lacquer” is from a unique line of cosmetics: Hourglass. Film Noir Lash Lacquer really is a mascara enhancer that is best used with lengthening and defining mascaras (not really to be used with thickening, tubing or other heavy-style mascaras). I guess you could use it alone, too. You don’t brush it on,you paint it on, using what looks like a mascara wand, with a brush tip. The latex-like formula has Vitamin E to pamper lashes, too.  The short course in application is this:  hold wand at a horizontal angle and, using the tip of the brush, apply to lashes in short painterly strokes. Avoid the inner rim of the eyes. Lash Lacquer can also be applied to the lower lashes to define them. For a more natural look, focus product on the tips of the outer corners of top lashes.

 

 

Applying Film Noir Lash Lacquer is not for the dash-and-go girl. You need a bit of practice, some patience, and just a little time to apply it correctly. But consider that this is a top coat for your mascara, similar to a nail polish top coat in that it sets the color and makes it super shiny. The “Kohl” black makes lashes look incredibly intense with a lot of glamorous shine.

I watched Hourglass Cosmetics’ Artistic Director, Gina Brooks, apply it to a model, and it certainly made an impression. True, you might not want to use it every day, but for evening and special occasions it will make that va-va-voom! impression you long for.  $28.00 is a lot for a top coat, but just like being too rich or too thin, you can’t get enough glam for your lashes. The fact that Hourglass cosmetics are formulated without parabens, fragrance, sulfates, and phthalates, is a definite plus as well.

 

And if you’re not ready to deal with painting black lash lacquer on your lashes, Film Noir Mascara will give your lashes a lot of flare. $28.00 brings you this exceptional mascara in one color: Onyx. The mascara is billed as “full spectrum” and I honestly am not sure what that means, but I can tell you that the mascara looks special from the moment you see it, in a chic, shiny pewter case. The signature “pinwheel” bristles of the slim, hourglass-shaped brush volumize, lengthen, separate and condition lashes giving them a bit of pampering with pro-vitamin B5 (to hydrate and condition), plus added polymers that keep the formula on your lashes, to resist smudging and fading.  This mascara is also sulfate, synthetic dye, and phthalate free. There are plenty of luxe mascaras to choose from, but this one is a little splurge that will keep paying dividends for months.  While we’re on the subject of Hourglass, and eyes, you should know that this line also has an exceptionally good liquid eyeliner called SCRIPT. Although I’m personally not a fan of liquid liners, even those in easy to use pens like this one, $32.00 brings you one of the thinnest brush tips I’ve ever seen, in blue, brown or black (indigo, cognac or ebony—to use their names). The brush tip is so thin, you can just dot it along your lash line and make a full line without having to worry about keeping your hand steady. If it did slip. The thin line could be smudged, and look sexier than ever, as if it wasn’t a mistake in the first place. The liner is phthalate, sulfate and gluten free, and it last.  I love it!  If you’re a butterfingers with liner, splurge (or save up) and buy at least one color for the coming season.

I can’t speak for Volumes 1-5, but I’m simply smitten with the new Hourglass Cosmetics Vol 6 eye Palette, featuring six universally flattering, blend-able  shades. The trendy matte formula is featured in five colors, and there is one flesh-toned powder with a hint of pearly shimmer.  Four small rectangles of intense shadow can be used for a smokey eye, an accent, or a powder liner. The colors are so intense, you can just dot it on your fingertip and you’ve got enough to blend over a lid.  There’s a deep blue, black brown and a softer but still deep, mauved pink.  There is also a very intensely tinted ivory that makes a wonderful base as well as a soft, light, lid shadow. Nestled into the bottom well of the super-shiny, bronze metallic compact is a dual-tipped mini brush.  But what I love so much about thi8s palette is the presentation.  Yes, the shadows are superb, but the compact is about the size of an iPhone, and the top swivels 360º as in a tablet computer, to reveal  a large mirror that you can position a myriad of ways. It is SO COOL to look at and use, it’s well worth the price at $58.00.  This is one time when the splurge is so satisfying, you won’t care that it cost a lot.  The shadows are smooth, easy to blend, fun to play with for contouring, highlighting, crease, or liner. As with other Hourglass Cosmetics products, these superb shadows are free of parabens, fragrance, sulfates, phthlates, and they’re gluten free.  I am not sure how gluten-averse you need to be to avoid wearing something with gluten, as well as not ingesting it, but if you need to avoid gluten in, on, or around your body, Hourglass is going to be your new love.
