When I received the Per-Fekt Matte Body Perfection Gel my first reaction was: “Oh No!” Everyone who reads my reviews knows by now that I’m a very reluctant advocate for self-tanners and body bronzing makeup. But Perk-Fekt Matte Body Perfection Gel may have me changing my mind. It is a moisturizing, multi-tasking body bronzer that gives you a natural, build-able “tan” (in one color) for all skin tones.
Usually, body bronzing makeup is too light or too dark, and many have so much obvious shimmer you’ll feel like covering up when you go to work, but this one, doesn’t have shimmer or glitter so you can go to the office without feeling sheepish, and go out at night and still look tan and lovely. Perhaps it’s the gel formula, or maybe a bit of myterious magic, but this bronzing gel actually gave me the (faux) tan I have wishes for all my life, but will never have. My freckled skin turns reddish in the sun, and most bronzing products make it look red, or worse, dirty brown-ish. But this one simply boosted my skin tone a few shades and really looked amazingly good. Even better, it didn’t transfer onto my clothes, or leave embarassing stains on furniture. One doesn’t want to have to back away, slowly, as she realizes her leg makeup has melted onto a chair, or some other thing!
Another thing I like about Per-Fekt Matte Body Perfection Gel is that in addition to makign skin look tan, this product disguises skin imperfections such as redness, bruises, dry patches, chafed rough skin, and even stretch marks. Hyaluronic microspheres firm, tone and hydrate, shea butter moisturizes, and ceramides maintain hydration by locking in moisture. The product doesn’t have talc or wax, and also doesn’t have Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, – Synthetic Dyes, Phthalates, GMOs, or Triclosan. I like the mousse-like texture that seemingly really does make you just a bit darker than normal.
The gel was non-greasy and easy to apply evenly. It appears to be very transfer-resistant, water-resistant, and sweat-resistant. It really didn’t disguise a scar on my hand, but on smaller and less prominent scars it would proably do a great job. It did even out my freckled skin tone, and felt as if I was wearing nothing on my skin . Amazingly, with all this, it washed off easily with soap and water — yes, it’s impressive!
If you are baring skin in a dress, shorts or skirt, and your legs are less than lovely (or very pale), Per-Fekt can really make a difference. I admit that it is pricey at $48.00 for 3 fl. oz. but it appears to work very well, and gives you a viable alternative to more permanent self-tanners that may not turn out to be a beauty boon after all.
