An “Icon” is someone who is greatly and widely admired. Therefore, it’s so awesome that vintage -inspired Besame cosmetics has selected a couple of iconic women and honored them with makeup they might have worn. The iconic women collections I’m showcasing in this story are Love Lucy and Marilyn:
The Love Lucy Collection:
Lucille Ball made us laugh on television with her physical comedy. Her expressions including signature fire-red hair and lips were iconic. But she was also a very savvy businesswoman.
Before I Love Lucy, Lucille Ball started her career as a model. The Besame Cosmetics Iconic Women Love Lucy Collection brings to light the beauty and ingenuity of Lucille Ball, to prove she was so much more than “a wacky redhead.” To find out all the ways Lucy changed history, read: Things We Have Today day Thanks to Lucy
This collection has so much in it and so much going for it that it was a big hit that it has pretty much sold out. But I snagged a few pieces to share with you:
I Love Lucy was filmed in black and white, but Lucille Ball always wore a signature red lipstick. I couldn’t get ahold of the Besame red lipstick in Lucy’s color. However, in my photo is the “Warm Red” lip liner that coordinated with that red lipstick she likely wore. This color will enhance all your reds and deep pinks. The red heart keychain hides a pencil sharpener! So so cute!
However, here is Exotic Pink, another Besame lipstick inspired by 1955 beauty. It is from the Besame classic color collection and I think Lucy might have worn this to mix things up from bright red now and then. Exotic Pink is a warm, bright, flamingo-pink color. It’s enriched with squalane, aloe, and vitamin E.
Exotic Pink feels great on the lips with a semi-matte look that stays on all day. Triple Pigmented, Feather Proof, Long Wearing Satin Finish. Subtle Vanilla Flavor. Enriched with Vitamin E & Squalane, Encased in a Gorgeous Gold Metal Tube, Meticulously Formulated for Sensitive Skin. The outer package is cream with metallic gold in the same design as the one on the lipstick bullet in red. Just Gorgeous packaging.
Look at Lucy in my top photo and you’ll see that Lucy was not afraid to accentuate her lashes. I personally am too nearsighted to wear faux lashes, but what I love about these is that they are warm and not black. Black lashes on blonde lashes, no matter how expertly done, still look strange to me. These will be great for these whose lashes are very sparse, or light.
Essential Marilyn Collection:
Marilyn Monroe needs no introduction She is another one of Besame’s Iconic Women. Her beauty and glamour endure through the decades. Bésame Cosmetics has recreated Marilyn Monroe’s makeup. Who wouldn’t like to be a bombshell like Marilyn? Her collection includes feminine touches on the lipstick bullets and shadow quads.
Based on vintage items from her personal collection, this set is inspired by some of Marilyn Monroe’s makeup.
Red Hot Red Lipstick:
When I think of Marilyn on the screen, the first thing I notice is her red lipstick and often, coordinating red nails
Besame Cosmetics lipstick Red Hot Red is based on Marilyn’s lipstick in the movie “Some Like It Hot.” The packaging is adorned with Marilyn’s signature and a faux diamond top. It’s easy to see that the black & gold case highlights the star’s signature glamour. Since “diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” there is a sparkling rosette of crystal “diamonds” on the top
the outer carton is black matte with a chic outline of Marilyn’s face on one side, her signature on the other, both in gold ink. A diamond in gold is printed on the very top. The gold metal lipstick bullet has a ribbed top with that sparkling rosette on the top, The bottom of the tube has mailyn’s signature in black.
Red Hot Red is a true fire engine red triple pigmented, weatherproof and long-lasting. It’s a deep, brilliant color with a warm, yellow-toned base. But totally modern, it is enriched with plant-based squalane and vitamin E. Even those with sensitive skin can wear it.
The lipstick is Cruelty-free ‖ Paraben-free ‖ Gluten-free ‖ and Mineral Oil-free.
I can just imagine Marilyn displaying this beautiful Bombshell Eye Shadow quad compact on her dressing table or makeup bag. Inside the beautifully decorated metal compact is a saying we should all consider: “We are all stars and deserve the right to twinkle.”
Four soft but highly pigmented shades would work so well with Marilyn’s 1950’s and 1960’s eye looks. She kept her eyes more subtle to balance her firey red lipstick.
I blended the shadows for testing with just a fingertip, but it’s even better with a brush The colors are: Peach, Cream, Taupe, and a very light brown. This gorgeous eye shadow quad is one you will want to display.
Don’t forget that Besame has skincare as well. You’ll get free samples of their Cold Cream, Day Cream, Night Cream, and Vanishing Cream, with your purchase!
