I wish I could say that I am familiar with every single beauty item and every single company, but I don’t know them all, just a lot of them! And, obviously, new items and new companies crop up every day. One company whose products recently arrived at my door, is Image Skincare. Naturally intrigued, I learned that Image Skincare products are created without the use of chemical preservatives like parabens and was one of the first skincare companies to remove parabens from its product line beginning in early 2007. All of the lines are not just paraben-free, but also free of petrochemicals, have no chemical preservatives, and are crafted with fragrances that are composed of 100% essential oils. The products are distributed and available in over 30 different countries including the US, Europe, Switzerland and the Middle East and their FDA-certified laboratory creates pharmaceutical grade skincare products for licensed physicians and estheticians. However, you can purchase some of the personal care products for yourself on the Image Skincare Web Site (*you need to create an account to buy) or on Amazon.com.
Since the Summer sun is still pretty intense, let’s talk about serious SPF protection. I really like the Image Skincare Prevention+ Daily Ultimate Protection Moisturizer with SPF 50 (avg. price $25-$35.00 3.2 fl. oz.) . This moisturizer is not crazy-pricey for what it does. It provides a huge amount of broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection (9% zinc oxide; 7.5% Octinoxate; and 5% Octisalate). It is also a very effective daily moisturizer in a lightweight, pleasant to use formula, dispensed from a pristine white flip top tube with yellow accents.
And that’s not all, it contains plant-derived stem cells (to protect against UV damage) and a DNA Protection Complex: Photosomes (Plankton Extract)/Roxisomes (Arabidopsis Thaliana)/ Ultrasomes (Micrococcus Lysate). This protects skin cells and DNA against free radical damage and enhances the DNA repair. It also has Aqualance to improve skin hydration, Thiotaine (Ergothioeine), a large spectrum, powerful antioxidant, and BV-OSC (Vitamin C) an oil soluable and stable form of the antioxidant, Vitamin C.
This sun scren is good for all skin types, too, but especially very dehydrated or sensitive skin or those with rosacea-prone complexions. That being said, you might think this anti-aging moisturizer would be heavy or greasy, but the big (and very pleasant surprise), is that it doesn’t feel that way at all. It just sort of melts into your skin. Apply it every morning (30 minutes prior to sun exposure), put on your other face products as you wish, and then you’ll forget you have it on. For daily use, it’s really good, but if you’re going to be outside and sweating or washing your face, re-apply it as needed as you would any sun screen. I’m a fan of the SPF 50, which is the highest level of sun screen, but this also is available in different formulas and lower (but still good) SPF ratings such as 30, 32 , and 45. You can also get an Image Skincare Trail Kit of the Prevention products (you have to sign in or call for pricing). It’s annoying, but the products are good, so if you’re interested, call or sign up and log in–it’s free to do that). Kit Includes Prevention + Daily Hydrating SPF 30, Daily Matte SPF 32,Ultimate Protection SPF 50, Daily Tinted SPF 30. You can also get trial kits for some of the other lines: Ageless: Clear Cell; and ; Post Treatment, Oily/Acne. Ormedic,(organic); and Vital C.
