J.E.T.S. Jets. Jets. Jets! Here’s Your Taste of the Jets” experience
Last night, November 16th, at 4 World Trade Center, with a spectacular view of the City sparkling beneath us, the NY Jets did something they don’t do on the field. The players modeled men’s fashions from Saks Fifth Avenue on a runway and helped their “flight crew” cheerleaders sell raffle tickets for a very good cause. Proceeds from this annual event benefit ShopRite’s Partners in Caring started to stamp out hunger in our communities. Taste of the Jets was also done in partnership with Celebrity Cruises, Saks Fifth Avenue and ESPN New York.
Football fans, fashionistas, foodies and influencers actually did get a true “taste of the Jets” watching a runway show featuring JETS players: Offensive Lineman Willie Colon, Linebacker Demario Davis, Defejs9vem Tackle Leger Douzable, Center Nick Mangold, Linebacker Calvin Pace, Punter Ryan Quigley, Cornerback Antonio Cromartie, Wide Receiver Eric Decker, Kicker Nick Folk, Cornerback Dexter McDouble, Cornerback Buster Skrine, and Defensive Lineman Leonard Williams. Clothes ranged from elegant to casual with looks from Saks Fifth Avenue, Prps, Diesel, Strellson, G-Star Raw Eleventy and Hugo Boss.
After the fashion show, bathed in “JETS” Green Light, each player stood by a food station where guests could sample more than 20 restaurants (I’m not going to tell you my favorite — they were all delicious) . They chatted with the guests, posed for photos, signed footballs and other things, and encouraged guests to put purchased raffle tickets into fishbowls at the different food stations– each promising a different and exciting experience or prize. Some of these prizes included a Movado Edge watch, 2 round tickets to any Continental US Destination on Jet Blue, Bose Speakers, Dinners, amd even the chance to be an Honorary Team Captain on the field for the Coin Toss at the Patriots vs. Jets game on 12/27/15. The “flight crew” cheerleaders were the ones walking around selling the tickets , and believe me, few resisted!
The New York Jets football players who participated in this event did so knowing it was for a very good cause. The ShopRite Partners In Caring has donated nearly $37 million to more than 1,700 charities, including emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, child care centers, battered women’s shelters, senior citizen programs, drug rehab centers, programs for the mentally and physically disabled, after-school programs and other organizations that aid those in need. If you didn’t make it to the event this year, there’s always next year. Please feel free to share this Taste of the Jets experience, and leave your comments!
