The JAM Voice WiFi Speaker is the smaller than half a soda can, but it isn’t just any portable WiFi “speaker.”
Using a downloadable app for ios or android, you can stream music from music services such as Spotify, iHeartRadio, Tunein, Tidal, Alexa and your own phone or music player. One charge will last for four hours’ worth of music which you can play at ear-splitting volumes if you wish.
Connect the JAM Voice to other Jam Wi-Fi speakers for additional sound dimension.
You can accept calls through the speaker and using the JAM Voice app you can record with this as well.
But that’s not really what the JAM Voice is all about:
This new, amazing little speaker works like the Amazon Echo and Alexa but at about a third of the price. Currently the Amazon Echo retails for $179. The JAM voice is, amazingly, just $80.
While the JAM Voice is new and at this point doesn’t have all of the functionality of the Amazon Echo it comes pretty close. ou can ask it about the weather, your schedule, the news, traffic, ask it all sorts of questions (not that it will understand everything in the world, but it’s a start).
Once connected to WiFi, you can get started. If you have an Alexa account you just link to it (or get one because you’ll need it to get the functionality of Amazon Alexa). You also have to download the JAM Voice APP for the music player.
No biggie for either of these things.
If you own an Amazon FireStick and have an Amazon account you can turn that on and off with just your voice with the JAM Voice as well.
We just received this unit for review at advicesisters.com and we haven’t figured out all of the functionality yet. We will update this once we do. JAM keeps learning and getting “smarter” so there may be no limit to what it can do, eventually.
Just charge the JAM Voice through a standard micro USB (included) and download the app onto your smart phone. Using the Jam VOICE music app was intuitive in terms of audio, but learning all the things the JAM Voice can do with Alexa. takes a bit of time.
We have reviewed a number of JAM products still in our JAM archives on advicesisters.com and we have liked them all. This JAM Voice is about the same size, perhaps a bit smaller than the original Bluetooth Wireless Portable Speaker we reviewed in 2012 . As with the original JAM speaker, the controls on the JAM Voice itself if you’re not using the app are simple (volume, forward, on/off, forward, play, connect). The speaker is small enough to tuck into a tote or suitcase so you can enjoy it anywhere!

While you can’t expect concert hall quality sound from this little speaker it’s decent in the mid-range with little to no distortion. Impressive, actually.
