The scent of jasmine? It’s a bit like speed dating. One sniff and you’re either excited about the possibilities, or you’re ready to move on to something else. Jasmine is a genus of shrubs and vines in the olive family. There are more than 200 species native to tropical and warm temperate regions of Europe, Asia, and Africa. It has a sweet, floral scent that is usually quite strong, with hints of spice and vanilla. The white flowers are quite beautiful, too! It is also the key note in a new fragrance by Krigler called Juicy Jasmine1
Krigler fragrances have a very loyal following of fragrance aficionados who love exclusive, luxurious fragrances. The house goes back more than 107 years. The fragrances are precious, and so are the prices, but after wear-testing Krigler’s Juicy Jasmine 30 (3.4 fl. oz. $275.00 or 1.7 fl. oz. $185.00 **sample is $7.50) I finally understand what the fuss is all about. It is important to note that Krigler still sells some of it’s vintage fragrances from way, way back, and that’s a long way, since the iconic fragrance house was created in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1905. Today, there are also new fragrances that are inspired by the vintage ones, but they’re fresh and modern, sophisticated and unique. Wear a Krigler Fragrance and you won’t smell like anyone else, because the notes blend with your body chemistry to become your signature. The perfumer’s art is evident but the vibe isn’t showy, just elegant. Even the bottles are simple glass that look somewhat retro, but with modern flair. housed in round, hard-sided outer tube of soft gold, with shiny black and gold labels. The presentation states that the discerning owner of the fragrance doesn’t have to bludgeon people with labels or gaudy graphics to say: “I know I”m worth it.”
Jasmine is a romantic white floral that could be very old fashioned. But Krigler Juicy Jasmine wins you over with that compelling jasmine-centric scent inspired by the past, but with modern and sensual touches that are fresh and exciting. The actual notes include all the romance of flowers, with jasmine , orange blossom, plus hyacinth and lily of the valley. But the sensual, spicy notes of ylang-ylang and gaiac wood add something new. The scent of jasmine is very distinctive, and ylang ylang can be intense, but in this fragrance, they’re balanced and blended, beautifully. The scent, despite the name, isn’t “juicy” or fruity at all. As it dries down, it becomes softly spicy and almost “creamy.” Anything that might be old fashioned in the notes evaporate , leaving a sensual, long lasting scent that blends differently with different body chemistry. On my skin, the scent became almost “rose.” How it will smell on you is a mystery, until you try it!
Juicy Jasmine is the perfect fragrance for the cooler weather ahead, and for date nights and special occasions when you want something floral, feminine, and long lasting, but still elegant,
