I love jewelry. Don’t you? I really don’t need an occasion to wear something fun or eye-catching. However, I love jewelry, even more, when it has a message or a function. The beautiful pendants from TrelaWear could actually save a life. The exotic jewelry from Yenaé fuses African storytelling, fashion, and culture. This is just a small selection of their pieces, and they’re all really exciting! Tough As A Mother offers inspiration to honor mothers (and others).
Fashion + Functional Jewelry From TRELAWEAR:
You’ve probably seen the TV commercial of the elderly and frightened woman in the bathroom who screams “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” But it’s really not funny at all. About 80% of falls at home occur in the bathroom. Moreover, you don’t have to be elderly to need a call for help.
Falling in the Snowstorm:
I had knee issues and I was walking with a cane. My friend and I went out for a fancy tea date. By the time we’d finished catching up, the snow had been falling for hours. The NYC Mayor didn’t bother to send out the salt trucks or plows. I couldn’t get an Uber. My cane slipped on the snow and I fell hard off the curb. I couldn’t get up. After lying helplessly in the snow for a while, a young woman finally helped me up. But then I fell again a few blocks later. Therefore for the rest of the Winter, I lived in fear of falling.
As I just demonstrated, anyone of any age can fall or be in trouble somewhere and need help. But until I saw the TrelaWear alert pendants, I wouldn’t ever have considered wearing one of those ugly pendants. Even my elderly dad in a senior living facility refused to hang that stigmatizing pendant around his neck.
Pendants With a Purpose
You would never know that the beautiful round “Bella Lapis Blue/Rhodium × 1 Trelawear” (in my photo) on a pretty, long-chain (or the “Sally” square style) ($175) is actually a jewelry-inspired Bluetooth personal emergency response device. The Trelawear is a piece of wearable tech you can just well…wear if you don’t need to call. But it definitely de-stigmatizes wearing an emergency alert.
Choose from silver or gold metal and a variety of different stones: Gold, Lapis Blue, Opaque Black, Rhodium, Tanzanite Purple, Turquoise Blue, White Mother of Pearl. The loop on the pendant is a clip that opens, so you can add the pendant to your existing beads, pearls, or chains. If you want you can also just clip the Trelawear pendant to your jeans or handbag.
The app has an app (for IOS and Android) in partnership with FallCall® Solutions. It’s relatively easy to set up. Once you’ve installed the app, set up a care group of “care givers” and then pair the pendant with your phone. You will be charged a fee for the service. Now you’re ready to use the pendant.
Push for Help
If you need help, the pendants Our pendants pair remotely to your smartphone (ios or Android) through the FallCall® Solutions App. Simply press the button on the back of your pendant and you will immediately be connected to either your Care Group or Central Monitoring Station depending upon the subscription plan you have selected. Each pendant is $175 however the cost of activating the device is either $9.99 or $19.99 depending upon services (cancelable at any time). To learn more about Trelawear visit: www.trelawear.com

Empowerment Jewelry For Mothers (and Others)
To be a mom, you’ve got to be tough! But Tough as a Mother Tribe Jewelry by Jennifer Cervantes reminds women to find the strength to endure the real challenges of motherhood. If you’re not a mother, there is still a beautiful message in these pieces for all women. This jewelry uses the power and meanings of gemstones to help empower you whether your a mother or not.
I’m not a mom, but I love empowering jewelry. I chose the “Cool Mama” necklace ($40). It’s a delicate piece of chalcedony on an 18″ 14L gold-filled chain. If you like delicate jewelry or things you can layer, this one is a perfect fit.
Chalcedony is a powerful healing stone that helps ward off negative thoughts and vibes. Touching it, I feel more serene and grounded. According to the Tough as a Mother Tribe website, this stone helps promote goodwill while evoking benevolence, harmony, and stability. This is something mothers (and all others) need!
Tough As A Mother Bracelet
I also really like this beaded bracelet ($25) that spells out “tough” and includes a stone charm of your choice on the back dangle. Living is tough enough right now, and moms probably have even more to deal with than those without children to worry about and protect. You can get the little dangle stone in several versions including chalcedony, clear quartz, amethyst, rainbow moonstone, labradorite, or the one I chose, turquoise. Turquoise is a favorite stone of mine not just for its bright blue color, but also because turquoise promotes self-realization and assists in creative problem-solving. We can all use some of that, nowadays, can’t we? Visit https://toughasamothertribe.com/
