Some generations associate “flower power” with the summer of love, hippies, the Jefferson Airplane, and the Haight. For others, “flower power” is in the form of a slim column of tapered, curved red glass with a tall “hat” of clear plastic as a topper, containing Kenzo’s latest fragrance: Flower TAG Eau de Toilette.
Taking a cue from graffiti art, Kenzo’s Flower Tag is like a “tag” on a wall, or perhaps, even the tags you add to a blog. It’s a modern way to express yourself — but with scent.
The first thing you notice is the packaging, a slim, rectangular column that is the color of bold, red lipstick. The entire box is covered in white “tags” proclaiming: “Flower,” as if the flowers in the fragrance were themselves were sending you a message that you have to try Flower TAG. On one side, there’s a flower blossom in a psychedelic design. It’s just one, on a long, slim stem.
As already mentioned, the bottle is a curved column of red glass, the sahpe, iconic for Kenzo fragrance. This bottle is decorated with that same, white “flower” tag on the side, and that singular, slim blossom, in psychedelic print. The bottle is so eye catching, you will feel the urge to immediately pick it up. Notice that when you do, it seems to nestle into the palm of your hand as if it it belongs there.
Lift the red cap. Spray. Smell the bright, fresh, fruity floral that winks at you from the top notes of Rhubarb, Blackcurrant and Mandarin with the heart of florals: Peony, Lily of the Valley and Jasmine and a surprise hit of a sensual Tea Note, Vanilla and Musk at the bottom. These playfully mix together without being silly or awkward. Take that first sniff assessing the scent. You will get the brightness of the fruits, but everything else will flood your senses at once, too. Modern, exciting, and yes, it’s fun!
