New Product From La Prairie!
This new product from La Prairie multitasks as a beautifier, skin protector from the sun’s damaging rays,. It’s a treatment with Caviar Water (hydrating, firming) and La Prairie’s exclusive cellular anti-aging complex. Among the products advicesisters.com has reviewed from La Prairie are those from the La Prairie Caviar skin care regimen. Caviar is obviously a luxury item. something you expect from La Prairie, but caviar has vitamins and amino acids with antioxidant anti-aging properties. It’s also hydrating.
This foundation also includes the La Prairie Cellular Complex. The creation process is so secretive, I can’t tell you what’s in it other than it’s an anti-aging powerhouse with three types of fermentation done in three separate labs and in fact, no single technician or chemist knows the exact recipe.
Anyway, all this great-for-your-skin goodness is in the Skin Caviar Essence-In-Foundation SPF 25 which is half makeup, half skincare and also skin-protecting.
The packaging is also exciting. It’s a refillable cushion compact that keeps the liquid foundation in a mesh, until you press on it with the included sponge applicator. This is the cleanest, easiest and best for travel way to carry around a liquid foundation.
You do get a full refill of your chosen color, too.
How Does It Look?
I wear tested this foundation on two of the stickiest, hottest days of the Summer so far. The coverage is sheer to medium but build-able. Soft focus pigments make your skin look naturally radiant and hydrated, not greasy or shiny. Amazingly, the foundation didn’t budge, fade, or turn color for hours and hours. It looks so nice and felt so lightweight I almost forgot that I was also offering my skin SPF 25 with actives of 4% octocrylene, 3% oxtinoxate, and 2% avobenzone.
SPF 25 is ample for a normal day, but you should re-apply it every couple of hours. You can take the compact with you, of course. But if you don’t want to disturb your blush and bronzer, dust on a sheer powder sunblock, Some that I like include Brush On Block by Susan Posnick , Jane Iredale Powder-Me SPF, ColorScience SunForgettable Mineral Makeup, and Sweat Mineral Foundation just to name a few.
There are 8 shades, from light to medium in three tones: Neutral, Warm and Cool. I tried Peche, a medium/light neutral Cool. Normally I’d wear the warm version, but the tint is so sheer and blendable I thought it made a good match. For those with very deep skin tones, these might be too light, but as a primer/sunblock before another product, they’re fine.

The Bottom Line:
You can purchase a foundation or sunblock for just a few dollars, and this one is almost $200. However, if you want the benefits of La Prairie’s caviar and cellular complex, along with good sun protection and a lovely foundation in a travel-friendly compact that is as luxurious as you can find, look no further than this new foundation. Consider too that you do get a full-sized refill which makes this more of a value.
