Chestnuts roasting by an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose…
….so goes that beloved Christmas Song, music and lyrics composed by Torme and Wells in 1946. The most popular recording was, of course, by Nat King Cole. But I digress! The reason I am quoting this song is that I have just discovered a holiday scented candle by Laura Mercier, a limited edition Warm Roasted Chestnut, that brings the song, to life. Laura Mercier’s trio of limited edition candles ($42.00 each) arrive in chic, opaque, brown votive containers. Each 8 oz. candle has an approximate 60-80 hour burn time.
I didn’t check out Creme Brulee(aroma of a French Patisserie with notes of warm caramel, spun sugar and French vanilla bean) or Tarte au Citron (essence of lemon, bergamot, cassis and warm crème fraiche, and blends it with delicious notes of whipped vanilla custard, baked pastry accord and velvety musky woods), but knowing Laura Mercier’s penchant for heady, sinfully delicious scents, I know they have to be amazing as well. The candle I didtry is the perfect holiday mood setter, not to mention a great gift. It is not white like the others, but a rich, holly berry red. When you put it out on a table you can immediately smell the enveloping aroma of roasted chestnuts, nutmeg, spicy berry, clove and warm vanilla sugar. It smells like a spiced chai latte! Candles are great for making a merry mood in your home, but they also are great gifts for that special someone. A gift of a candle can be gracious (e.g. to thank a hostess or a fabulous co-worker), or very romantic (to tell that person that you’d like to spend a cozy evening by the fire…or elsewhere….with just the romance of candlelight). If you are going to give a candle as a gift, however, you can’t just pick up something in a jar that smells like chemicals. The candle has to be superior with a fabulous fragrance. Laura Mercier’s candles (and her bath & body potions, too) all are top of the line, gift-ables.
I have already reviewed one of the “it” gifts of the year from Laura Mercier’s makeup collection, the Luxe, Color Portfolio for Holiday, 2011 but if $98.00 is more than your budget can handle, and you want to give a luxe, Laura Mercier gift, consider the Mini Lip Glace Set.
This gorgeous, Limited Edition Mini Lip Glacé Set at just $48.00 features five mini-to-fit-in-your-evening-bag, shiny, limited edition 0.5 oz. lip glosses. The colors range from light and nude “Blush” and ligth-peachy “After Hours,” to a very shimmery peach called “Sparkling,” and finally, to two deeper and more intense tints: “rose,” a lovely medium rose that flatter everyone and a deep chocolate shimmer called “Quartz.” The more intense colors get my vote for the best cross between a lipstick, lipstain and gloss. The thing about Laura Mercier colors is that whether they are light or deep, intense or sheer, they magically flatter just about every complexion because the shades are realistic. The color is long lasting. The shine makes lips pouty without painful stinging or stickiness.
These are truly good for your lips glosses with Laura Mercier’s pampering blend of moisturizing, anti-aging, anti-oxidant and plumping ingredients (thanks to the Laura Mercier Lip Complex). This years’ Limited Mini Lip Glace Set is a great value, since a single, full sized Laura Mercier Lip Gloss is $22.00! If you are truly strapped for cash, I suppose you could break up the quintet and gift a single mini to each of five friends, but for sheer “wow!” factor, nothing can beat the set of five.
