The new year is nearly over, and our beauty budget is slight, but now it’s our time to beautify and “gift” ourselves with someone fabulous. We love lip products that t last, with bold colors to perk up Winter Weary skin,we want them to be super-affordable, and we want them to pamper our lips.
Are these lipsticks like the proverbial unicorn, a myth? NO, actually we found them! They’re from COVERGIRL!

these are the lipsticks we sampled from COVERGIRL Colorlicious and Outlast
COVER GIRL makes two types of very long-lasting lipstick, one is the COVERGIRL Outlast All-Day Lipcolor (approx $8.00) which arrives in a two-part formula (color and gloss) and the Outlast Outlast Lipstick (Srp.$9.80) . We are big fans of the Outlast Alll-Day Lipcolor and wear it when we are on the go from morning till evening. We have to switch it up occasionally because really long-wear lipsticks like these can dry out your lips with daily use (tip: exfoliate and hydrate constantly)!

this COVERGIRL Outlast All Day Lipcolor really does last 16 hours-one of my very favorite products

This long wearing Outlast moisturizes lips and lasts for hours, too!
Now that colder weather, dry heat, and wind will make lips drier and prone to chapping, we’re switching it up now and then to another long-lasting product from COVERGIRL: Outlast Longwear Lipstick (approx. $9.80). This creamy lipstick is packaged in a shiny, silvery tube and comes in 11 bold colors. We tried several and found that the tones were neutral enough to be universally flattering. But what makes this lipstick great is that it lasts for hours. It doesn’t quite have the staying power of the Outlast All+Day Lipcolor, but it will stick around much longer than a normal lipstick. It won’t dry out your lips at all and, in fact, it skimmed over dry spots on our lip in our test. Unlike the Outlast All Day Lipcolor, it cant transfer if you press your lips to something (kiss, food, wiping your mouth on a napkin, etc.) but the upside is that you don’t have to apply it quite as precisely as the Outlast All Day Lipcolor and then add the second step, the clear gloss coat. We loved all the brilliant, bold colors that will perk up winter-weary skin and comes in shades to flatter just about everyone. These do what they say, and for under $10.00, it’s not a splurge, it is a must!

I’m completely obsessed with Colorlicious colors and the fabulous formula
For those who simply want an affordable lipstick with a huge collection of 36 colors, and a long-lasting formula, COVER GIRL Colorlicious (approx. $7.00) is a fashion “find.” The cases give you a hint of what color is inside and they are numbered as well as named —nice! Shea butter babies lips with soothing moisture so even if your lips are not perfect, the lipstick is “kind” to imperfections. These aren’t quite as long lasting at the other two COVERGIRL lipsticks we mentioned above, but they still last for hours, leaving a good percentage of lip color behind even after eating, etc. They’ll transfer color but the rich color feels just so pampering to lips. When we just want to feel glamorous with bold lips that we know will last quite a long while, our choice is Colorlicious. The name is absolutely perfect for this fabulous lippie. We give these a high rating for the range of colors, the good-for-your-lips formula, and the affordable price. They’re a perfect pampering “treat” even on a slim budget, a great choice for “new year, new you.” I loved “Tempt Berry,” a red/berry that is deep but not quite red or berry, so it’s a nice alternative to both those basic colors. We liked the range of bright pinks and reds, but everyone is unique and has different levels of comfort with color. I urge you (for new year, new you) to try a few colors that are out of your comfort zone, and get a new attitude with your new lipsticks!
Fun Facts About Lipsticks (consider for “new year, new you):
Back in June when I reviewed a bunch of COVERGIRL products, I learned that COVERGIRL had collaborated with a Harvard psychologist on a study to prove that different cosmetic combinations impact the way people judge a woman’s attractiveness and personality (at the conscious and unconscious level). I found the study so interesting, that I’m including some of the “fun facts” again in this post to help inspire you to try new lip formulas and colors.
RED lipstick wearers are deemed more creative and daring by others. Those who wear PINK lipstick are deemed sociable and fun-loving. . Plum lovers are perceived as more independent. And Nude lipstick wearers are seen as warm and caring.
Women who wear lipstick more often (4+ days per week) are more confident (93%) than those who wear it less often (0-3 days per week) (86%)
73% of those who wear lipstick more often are “in the know” about pop culture – compared to 61% of those who wear it less often.
On average, those who wear lipstick more often own 9 pairs of high heels – compared to those who wear it less often, who own 5. And red lipstick-wearers own the most: they own 9, compared to nudes’ 8 and pinks’ and plums’ 6.
How does this impact your decision to buy a lipstick? There isn’t just one type of color for everyone because we are all unique. Some choose to wear a signature color, but most of us just want to have fun, go with our guts, pick a color, and enjoy a “new look.”For more information visit the Cover Girl Web Site then visit your favorite mass market retailer, drugstore or shop online.
