Lip Colors Hilary Duff and Pink (among others), Love that are Must-haves For Ballerinas and Broadway (and now you, too):
When you find something you love, you want it in multiples. That’s just how I felt when I tried my first L.I.P Color Cream ($7.95) by Mehron. The little pot of lip color has intense color that is very long lasting, and the formula is silky and conditioning, too. My first experience with the product was with a clear red called “Big Apple,” that is universally flattering.
The L.I.P. Cream is available in 16 individual shades, but there are two palettes available to keep the colors at your fingertips. In fact, you can actually apply these lip products with a fingertip, but you’ll get stained skin so use a lip brush instead. They’re moist but matte, so you can add gloss or shimmer if you want, but what I like is the way lips look deeply tinted, without looking contrived and overly done.
These palettes are called “Day” and “Night.” They are each $43.95. Frankly, I’d consider them a bargain, since you don’t need a lot of product for maximum effect, and each large round pot of color will last a long time. The palettes are slim enough to pop into a large tote, and contain a large mirror and an enclosed lip brush. I felt like I had that proverbial box of Crayolas that we used to love as kids, when I got both palettes and could experiment with mixing, matching and blending colors!
The Day palette focuses on mauves and peachy pinks
The Night palette more on reds and deep berries. Yes, you will want both!
Mehron has been developing makeup products for the entertainment industry for over 80 years. They make products for the pros whose makeup needs to look good and perform perfectly, in productions as diverse as Phantom of the Opera and the Lion King, to The New York City Ballet and Cirque de Soleil. But Mehron’s consumer products are excellent and also high performance. Hilary Duff and Pink are fans (even hairstylist Oribe loves them). But you can enjoy them as well. With the warmer weather coming up, lip colors that won’t let you down are a must, especially if you love deeper, bolder tones. Mehron is available at a number of places, but I suggest the Mehron Web Site.
