Let’s face it (pun intended), makeup can literally melt off your skin in the heat and humidity of Summer. Foundations turn color, end up with breakthrough face shine, and can fade away. But I’ve found some fabulous face savers that won’t let you down no matter what the season from itCosmetics, Revlon ColorStay, and Maybelline SuperStay. These beat the heat and keep you looking beautiful.
Fab Face Savers: IT Cosmetics:
When it comes to anti-aging, skin-protecting cosmetics, there are none better than itCosmetics to save face!. In my photo above (right to left): Celebration Foundation, Your Skin But Better CC+ Oil-Free Matte foundation SPF 40, new Your Skin But Better Oil-Free Primer, and an amazing new eye shadow brush that multi-tasks to reveal four different brush heads (read more in the advicesisters.com eye makeup ideas feature).
it Cosmetics Celebration Foundation:
itCosmetics Celebration Foundation is one of my favorite products ever. I photographed it with this birdhouse to show how soft and nurturing it is. There are so many wonderful foundations but the Celebration Foundation from itCosmetics is one of my personal favorites because it beautifies, is travel-friendly, protects with SPF 50 and offers skin-loving benefits in one silky swipe!
Why You’ll Love These:
This soft powder compact has a silky, build-able, full coverage, anti-aging, hydrating pressed powder that looks amazingly natural. Choose colors from fair to deep protect with SPF 50 and actives of 20% titanium dioxide and 16% Zinc oxide.
The foundation has an included sponge applicator in the base, but it’s even better with itCosmetics’ own, super-soft, synthetic bristled, cruelty-free, Heavenly Luxe Angled Buffing Foundation Brush (see photo)
itCosmetics CC+ Creams:
itCosmetics CC+ foundations are beloved classics. However, the newest version is the oil-free matte SPF 40 (read advicesisters,.com review).
Why You’ll Love These:
Actives includes 7.4% Titanium Dioxide and 6.3% Zinc Dioxide. A whopping 40 shades provide full coverage along with anti-aging benefits and sun protection in a travel-friendly pump tube. I used my fingertip but itCosmetics has some wonderful brushes that make the foundation look flawless.
With this many shades use the itCosmetics shade finder to find your perfect match though the Warm, Neutral and Cool tones.
Find itCosmetics on the itCosmetics Web site. Some are also available on QVC and QVC.com, Sephora and Sephora.com, and Ulta and Ulta.com
New! itCosmetics Primer:
Come rain or shine, Summer or Winter, a primer can make your skin into a smoother more perfect canvas for any foundation. Brand new to itCosmetics is their Your Skin But Better Oil-Free Primer.
Why You’ll Love It:
Good for all skin types, even sensitive skin, the Your Skin but Better All Day Primer has” All Day Grip Technology” to help your foundation last for hours.
This primer is specifically designed to enhance the performance of with itCosmetics CC+ Creams, especially CC+ Cream Oil-Free Matte SPF 40. However, the oil-free, gel-like, clear primer will extend the wear of any makeup while it refines the look of pores (over time).
To make a primer especially great for humidity and heat, this one is formulated with glycerin, bark extract and ginger root extract. You can wear it on bare skin to hydrate, too.
Revlon ColorStay Foundations:
Fall will be upon us before we know it, but right now, the heat can make your foundation really take a beating, But Revlon ColorStay does what it says. The color will last up to 24 hours without fading, smearing, changing tone, or creating shine breakthrough!
There are several different long wear formulas by Revlon, dispensed with a nice big pump. My editorial samples included SPF 20 for Normal to Dry Skin, and a sample of SPF 15 for combination/oily skin.
Why You’ll Love These:
The SPF 20 formula has a natural finish and active of 4.3% titanium Dixoide and 2.1% Zinc Oxide. The color (#315 Butterscotch) was too dark for my light/medium skin, but there are 24 color choices.
The Combo/Oily formula’s SPF is thanks to 4.3% Titanium Dixoide and 2,1% Zinc Oxide, I am not sure why the combo foundation is only SPF 15 since both foundations have the same amount of actives. #310 Warm Golden was also too deep for my skin tone but no worries! There are 43 shades in a matte formula. Salicylic acid keeps shine breakthrough away.

Maybelline SuperStay Foundations & Bronzer:
My photo above shows only a small sample of the foundations available by Maybelline. Starting on the LH side of my photo above, thumbs up to Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage Powder Foundation.
Why You’ll Love These:
The powder compact is easier to handle than a bottle of liquid and this foundation has a shade for every skin tone. The full coverage foundation lasts all day (up to 16 hours).
As you can see from the photo featuring just a sample of the dozen shades, find your match from super light “#102 Fair/Porcelain” all the way to a deep “#375 Java” with most of the shades in the medium to medium-deep range. The high pigment matte formula is creamy enough to slide on nicely with the included sponge applicator (housed in the bottom of the compact) but I prefer to use a soft foundation brush.
Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage Foundation:
For those who just don’t like the feel or look of a powder foundation, Maybelline has many different liquids to satisfy. Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage Foundation will last up to a full day (yes, 24 hours!).
Why You’ll Love These:
If you’re traveling or having a day-to-evening with no time to re-apply, this full-coverage powerhouse liquid will not let you down. No wonder this foundation won an Allure’s Best of Beauty Award.
I’m showing just 6 of the 28 saturated colors ranging from very light to very dark, in warm, neutral and cool tones. if there’s a downside, it’s that the way the colors look in the bottles, especially the undertones, don’t look exactly the same as on your skin. Best to consult the color chart on the Maybelline website.
Faux Face Bake! City Bronzer:
If you read my advicesisters beauty review archives going all the way back to 1998, you know that I’m not a fan of fake bakes and even powder bronzers.
I’ve softened over the years. It’s far better to sport a faux tan than a real one because skin cancer can be deadly. Powder bronzers are a quick and easy way to add a glow without compromising your health.
Maybelline’s City Bronzer comes in 3 different shades (light, medium and deep–I have two colors”#100 Light” and “#300 Deep” in my collage photo).
Why You’ll Love These:
This powder bronzer will last up to 16 hours without turning orange, or red, or brown, or fading away. “#100 light” add just a touch of sun-kissed color to pale skin and it’s made me (dare I say it?!) a fan.
The micro-milled matte finish is velvety, thanks to whipped cocoa butter.
Apply it lightly with a big fluffy brush to leave a bronzed but believable glow. However, you can also use it as a contouring powder or apply it with a heavy hand for a true “fake bake.”
