Here’s a great way to “Think Spring” right now, even though it’s just January. M-A-C Cosmetic’s collection called “Lillyland” is an homage to the colorful and pretty designs of Lily Pulitzer. Pulitzer created her bright (e.g. hot pink yellow, lime green), colorful clothes throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s and her women’s clothing was a “must-have” for preppies, as chronicled in the fad book: “The Official Preppy Handbook.” She closed her company in the mid 80’s, but then revived it in 1993 ( Lilly is still a Creative Consultant, approving new designs, etc.).
What I love about M-A-C’s cheerful collection for lips, cheeks and nails, is that it channels the West Palm colors that Ms. Pulitzer is famous for. Wear these hot pinks now, or during your resort vacation, and you’ll feel like you’re already in South Beach or West Palm. When warmer weather finally does arrive, these colors will add that “pop!” you crave.

My first sample to review was the Creamblend Blush “So Sweet So Easy.” This limited edition, light yellow pink reminds me of the inside of a spiral shell on a Caribbean beach. It looks bright in the compact, but it has a creamy formula that is so silkly and sheer, you’ll just get a whisper of luxe color. I liked the look with the trendy, matte foundations that really do require a bit of depth but that need to be applied, flawlessly.

Although Spring is still months away, these pretty, feminine, and versatile colors will help you feel happy, right now. They’re available through Febriuary 2010…so hurry!
