Argan oil has been around for a long time. It’s made from green nuts of Argan tree found mostly in Morocco. This trendy oil has many benefits and uses, including a lot of dietary and supposed health benefits. When it comes to beauty, however, we love how argan oil helps to strengthen and nourish hair and skin. Argan oil has anti-aging anti-wrinkle properties too. Some tout it as beneficial in getting rid of dandruff and in being naturally protective against ultraviolet radiation. Here are some brands of hair care products that feature argan oil. Which one will be your favorite?
Hera was the wife of Zeus in Greek Mythology and the Queen of all of the gods. She was also the goddess and protector of women and marriage, but she was also a jealous woman who didn’t take kindly to Zeus’s lovers and offspring. But in today’s world, HERA is also the name of an argan oil product that is a protector of skin and hair.
HERA Argan Oil for Skin And Hair ($45.00 4 fl. oz.)
It arrives in a white package with a shiny metallic gold key design on the outside. The product inside is housed in a big, amber glass bottle with a black pump top. The product (obviously) contains argan oil, but it also has something more high-tech, an ingredient called Parasol SLX) that helps to prevent hair color from fading due to UV rays. Parasol SLX also enhances shine and makes hair softer and protects hair against daily environmental stress and against damage from heat styling. And “EFA Complex” hydrates and helps nourish the hair cuticle from within. It also moisturizes the scalp and hair,
Omega-3 provides nourishment and helps encourage new hair growth and prevent hair loss. Apricot kernel also nourishes and strengthens, and olive and grapeseed oils do the same. Apparently, grapeseed oil is also beneficial to mitigate the symptoms of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, and also seals in moisture to strengthen hair. Finally, the fruity floral and mildly exotic scent of the product is in part, thanks to slightly spicy and lemony, bergamot,
Mostly for Hair
The Hera Argon oil is mostly for hair, although you can use it on your skin as well On hair, you can use this as a treatment at night or as a detangler. The oils let you use it as a frizz fighter (but don’t overdo the amount). If your hair is about ready for washing, that’s the day to add some more argan oil. I’d use it at the beach when you are pulling your hair back and will be washing it later on. Some people use it instead of a skin moisturizer.
I like to spritz it on my hands to make them feel dry, and to pamper them. Unlike some oily products, this one just soaks in quickly and doesn’t feel greasy. On extra dry skin, especially on hands and feet and ankles, the argan oil is a big plus. Here is a list of all the ways the folks who created HERA think you can use it: http://www.heraoil.com/usage.html.
The large, 4 oz. bottle is enough to get you through the winter and well into the months that follow. Argan Oil is one of those hot and trendy ingredients that everyone seems to want these days. You have plenty of choices. But this one is particularly pleasant to use. You can find HERA in a number of places online and at heraoil.com

Agadir Hair Products
Agadir is a major city in southwest Morocco, known as the number one destination for vacationers in Morocco. Travelers will find a fantastic beachfront destination for leisure, water sports, and coastal recreation. Agadir is definitely an exotic place to visit.
It wouldn’t surprise you to learn, then, that Agadir Hair Products are somewhat exotic too. Their key ingredient is also Argan oil extracted from an exotic nut of the Moroccan Argan Tree. It’s lightweight and nongreasy, but very emollient. It infuses skin and hair with vitamins, antioxidants and unsaturated fatty acids that soothe, protect, and nourish dry and itchy scalp and skin. Some argan oil products can weigh hair down, but this one really does do a great job conditioning your hair. This is particularly relevant as the Winter dries out skin and hair so much, leaving hair dull and frizzy, and scalp, dry and itchy. You may notice more flakes on your clothing, but that doesn’t mean you have a chronic skin condition, It just may mean that your scalp is dry from Winter’s saboteurs. Agadir’s hair products can help!
Agadir Shampoo and Conditioner
Just as with skincare, the Winter is the time to beef up the hydration and emollient ingredients in your products. Don’t le the word “oil” scare you off. You aren’t going to end up with an oil slick on your head. I like the nourishing Agadir Argan Oil Daily Moisturizing Shampoo (around $19.00 12 oz.). This is a gentle, sulfate-free, and paraben-free moisturizing product. You can also use it on color-treated hair. With 100% pure and certified Argan oil and a softly lathering feel, you’ll find that your hair looks shinier, and feels softer and less dry and frizzy. It’s also fortified with Vitamin E, antioxidants, and unsaturated essential fatty acids with Omega-6 & Omega-9 to keep hair healthy. Ideal for all hair types, and it’s also sulfate and paraben-free.
The Argan Oil Conditioner at an srp of $21.00 for 12 oz. has many benefits. Agadir Argan Oil Conditioner (around $19.00 12 oz.). This is a sulfate- and paraben-free, multi-tasking moisturizer that de-tangles, smoothes, shines, and helps to combat dry, frizzy hair. Both the shampoo and conditioner have a light, fresh scent, and I love the amber bottles! These, and the other Agadir hair products, are well worth the money, especially in those months and for those times when you really need to pay more attention to your hair and scalp. You can find Agadir in mass-market retailers but you can also see all the products they offer at: http://www.agadirint.com/
Moroccanoil:
The first product I ever heard of that used argan oil was Moroccanoil® . The light blue and orange labels are almost iconic by now and there really is a lot of excitement and enthusiasm for the products. I know plenty of women, including discerning beauty editors, who swear by Morocconoil products and won’t use anything else. I can also name a number of celebrities with gorgeous hair that swear it’s due to Moroccanoil products, too.
Lots of Different Products
The line of Moroccanoil products includes Moroccanoil shampoo and conditioner, Moroccanoil Hair Treatment, Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream, Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream, and Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask. The products are in line with other luxury argan oil products. For example, the original Moroccanoil runs about $40.00 for a 3.4 oz. bottle. An 8.5 fl. oz. bottle of shampoo or conditioner runs about $22.00
A little goes a long way as it’s very nourishing and rich. I tend to reach for it only when my hair feels “compromised.” However, if you are a woman who is transitioning her hair back to natural, these types of products should be used regularly. I’ll tuck a travel-sized bottle into my suitcase, for sure. But while they make my hair look and feel amazingly shiny and feel amazingly soft, it’s just too much for every day (but that’s a personal statement, your hair may need more TLC). However, Morocconoil products are a must for Winter. Just use it judiciously. You can get Morocconoil products in tons of places, but you can also find it online on the Morocconoil Web Site: moroccanoilproducts.com/
Go Green!
Last year The Advice Sisters did a review of some major companies that chose to “go greener” in 2012, and one of those companies was Garnier. Another company that cares about the environment and is going greener, is Garnier. They were the first haircare brand at the mass market level to re-do their entire line of shampoos and conditioners. But more than just being “green,” this beloved mass-market brand has plenty of products that do good things for your hair and skin, for less.
During the Winter months when dry heat makes hair full of static and fly-aways (not to mention frizz), it’s nice to know that there is an affordable multi-tasker that can help smooth, shine, fight humidity, and fight frizz and fly-aways, all in one little green spray can with a bright orange top. The Garnier Sleek Finish 5-in-1 Serum Spray ($5.99 6 oz.) uses the power of Moroccan Argan Oil to give hair all that it needs to survive the Winter. As with all Argan oil products, a little goes a long way so you don’t need to overdo it. But the spray diffuser nozzle produces a fine mist and a light touch plus a light, fruity fragrance. . Our reviewers liked it–a lot! Even if you’re not on a budget, this is a great product to try. Find Garnier products in drug and mass-market retailers or visit http://www.garnierusa.com
